The Golden Arrow

Chapter 1

The bright heat of the sun gristled over the harbor of the town below.

People bustled through the busy towns. Rich and poor. Good looking woman with their fancy garnets, hanging from their necks.

Two young boys ran through town. A young and an elder.
The younger smiles as he raced through the town, loving the sea breeze and the ocean waves.

Far behind, the Elder frantically tries to catch up with the younger.
"River!!" The elder scowls.
"Get back here at once!!"
The younger giggles. "No way!! I'm going to the harbor to see the pirate ships!!" River says happily.

The elder, Zero, sighs.
"They arn't pirate ships!! You know that!! Pirates are bad and a threat to our town!!"

River stops and looks at the so called 'pirate ships' that swayed back and fourth slowly, to the waves. They were actually trade ships.

Zero finally caught up to him he panted, and wiped the sweat from his forehead. He looks at the ships and chuckled.
"I have no idea how you find them fasinating.."

(River is 12 and Zero is 14)

"But look at them! Wouldn't it be a joy just to experience being on one?" Explained River, the boy's blue eyes shone and his Silver like hair, flowed with the breeze.

Zero shrugs slightly. "Hm.. I.. Guess.." His golden hair swayed as well, as the sun shone down brightly on his green eyes.

If your wandering, the two arnt related. But they share a very close bond.. Zero kept a promise to watch over River, since his parents had died.

Then a few years later, Zero's mother passed of a sickness, years after his father had died in war.
The two just live among the townsfolk.

Zero sighs once more.
"Come along. We must be heading back" says the elder, turning and walking back.

"Ok.." Mumbles River. He took one last glance at the giant ships then raced back to his good friend.

The two open the door to a small, wooden house in the town. It wasn't much, but it worked out. The elder was smart and was quiet responsible. The younger, well, he was getting there.

"It's going to rain tonight" Zero says, looking over at River. "I reccomend sleeping with these extra blankets. I got them from a good lady at the market."

"Oh!" Says River, hopping down from his bed and walking over to the taller boy. He takes them and gives him a small smile.

"That was nice of her.." He says. Zero nods then looks out the window, watching the storm roll in. He's sometimes been afraid of the ocean.. But it didn't bother him to much..

River flops on the bed tiredly, then huddles himself in the blankets and quietly fell asleep.

Zero glances over his shoulder, noticing the younger already asleep.
He sighs and decided to go to sleep as well. He goes to his bed and laid down.

He shifts to his side and watched the waves of the ocean as it got darker outside. His eyes soon got heavy and he drifted off to a deep sleep..
