(This book is inspired by The Giver. The plots may be similar, but the story is completely different. Enjoy :)
Humans have roamed the Earth for thousands of years. They have built a community for themselves, evolved into something more powerful than anyone had ever thought. But nobody knew that with this vigorous evolution would come war, disease, and the lugubrious battle for power.
Humans started murdering each other off, not only one by one but also by massacres, slaughters, and mass genocides. The world they had obtained for such an expanded time was no longer the same. Its beautiful landscape had been tarnished by bulldozers and dynamite. Its unique and alluring animals had been raised just to be slaughtered, packaged, and shipped to different parts of the world in return for money. The hue of the sky has been stained with smoke and smog from industrial factors and pollution.
The humans, most of them, believed the world is copacetic the way it is. But what they do not know is the Earth isn't theirs to destroy. No God, or any other 'higher power', were the ones to put them there. The ones who did, labeled The Knowing, put humans here as an experiment. One that has gone awry.
The Knowing have come to terminate the failure they had created, but some saw hope in the project. They took a few people from every country that they thought deserved to live, that wanted to protect the environment instead of destroy it.
After gathering a few thousand people, they lifted them into space while the rest of the world was destroyed. They created a new one, termed Lurra. All humans they had rescued had their minds erased, forgetting everything they had ever learned.
The Knowing implanted new memories into their minds. It consisted of a new and only language; now called Anah, new technology; more advanced and much safer to the environment to construct, and improved ways of building and creating new structures. They no longer believe in a God, it was simply this is the world, we are here to tend to it, and that was all. There was no countries, but instead small communities. There was no more war, replaced with peace and kindness.
The emotions had also been altered, not taking them away but reducing the amount of frustration and stress a body can create. The cheerfulness had been increased, along with love and unity. They had enforced new rules into each and every humans' brain. They could no longer kill for pleasure. They could no longer take advantage of drugs.
Other rules have been applied. At 25 their spouse would be chosen for them, and after the ceremony they would be given a child. But because they didn't want reproduction outside of the Birthing Mothers, all couples would be same sex.
Everyone has an important job in the community. At sixteen a standardized test will be taken, showing your aptitude for certain areas of life. Using those skills they will be appointed a job that they will practice for until they are ready to start. They then work until they are 70.
Once they reach that certain age they go into retirement, living out the rest of their life in peace. Life was simple and pleasant. There was no other way to put it. But what happens when certain lives that had crossed in the past suddenly cross again? Will they remember the love that was so strong? Or will those memories be forever lost?
