News and disease are two very different things. They both spread, they both affect us all; and yet while one creates the other is left to destroy. When news of the Serenity virus began to spread across the globe people began to go to desperate measures to ensure their survival, some fleeing to far away places thinking that isolation would be their saviour, and others preparing for the end with nearly endless supplies of food, water, and medicine. It took weeks for the virus to spread across the globe, infecting hundreds if not thousands of each country's population, leaving them with crippling muscle degeneration and severe memory loss.
The moment that the virus began claiming lives people reverted to a state of panic not seen since epidemics such as the 2017 outbreaks of Ischemic. And as said panic spread worldwide, thousands of the world's top biologists and Epidemiologists were sent to secure facilities around the world to work for a cure, leading to the discovery of Chlorasects. Chlorasects was found to be a so to say vaccine to the disease, mixing with most of the bodies Cerebrospinal fluids, allowing it to prevent the virus infected blood from corrupting both the brain stem and the brain itself. The only catch was that not only was the substance was produced in such minuscule amounts, it was found where people would least expect it.
It was found in the cavity between the brain stem and spine of children.
People now knew that it would take hundreds if not thousands of children to produce enough to generate a cure for even a single person. Leading to none other than the rich and famous taking the head of the human trafficking ring, causing millions more to be pumped into the underground market.
Across the globe mothers and fathers became scared for their children's lives, as the armies of displaced people began to take to the streets looking for children to capture and sell, the lives of the young becoming the only source of income for those living either on the street.
And this is the world we all live in, our lives spent running, trying to stay alive. This is the story of where we were when the world began on its downward spiral, about how we made through.
