"Jillian!" My mom yelled. Ever since my brother died from slipping off our patio and drowning in our pool she has been checking up on me 24/7. I slide my temperarily tan fingers on the railing of our oak stairs.

"Yes," I said as if I didn't already know. "Mom I've been up and down these stairs 4 times, can't you ever you give me a break?"

"Sorry sweety, its just--"

"Yes mom, I know, I have known since the first time you called me down here. You wanted to just check up on me, making sure I was O.K.." I can't help it but every time I'm annoyed I make a specific face that always lets people know that their pestering me. It sort of looks like when your eyes go really wide and my head tilts to the right and my bottom jaw moves foward.

"That is not what I was going to say," my mom's eyes look at the floor knowing I was right. "I was going to say you don't have to stay in your room anymore."

I sighed and got my shoes on, "Well I'm going out to Amber's house. then." Amber was my best friend, she lives 3 houses away from me. She is very pale and is almost imposible to get tanned, unlike me, I can tan in 2 minutes at the beach. The night was warm and I see Amber's house and I walk to the front door and knock. I waited. And waited. Then as I turn to leave I hear the door open. I turn around quickly expecting Amber to be standing there shutting the door, but instead I see a person in black and a ski mask locking the door.

"Who are you? And what are doing?" The man turns around startled. He looks around and pulls out a black gun with a red line across the tip of the muzzle and points it directly at my forehead. Immidiatly I noticed what kind of gun it was.

"Are you trying to threaten me with a BB gun?" The man looks at his gun. I shouldn't have said something so stupid, but still it made me less scared but yet I just made him mad.

"Actually, yeah," then he pulled the trigger and gripped at me. I felt a sharp pain in my shoulder and looked down. There was blood on my arm, blocked by the man's bare hand. I felt faint and then everything blurred out.
