Morris cried the rest of the day and had finally fallen asleep about one in the morning. Jerry had stayed up all night to make sure that Morris was taken care of and when Morris had finally fallen asleep he had gotten up and walked out of the room down the hall to the old Command post and went to a bin that he had bought when he was ordered to take care of Morris, he pulled out of the bin a doll and started to cry.  When Jerry stopped crying he looked outside and saw that the sun was high in the sky. He realized he might want to go back to the room where Morris was sleeping when he heard a slight movement behind him which made him jump. He turned around and there stood Morris and Wilkes looking at him with concern in their eyes. Jerry started to say "I was here..." Morris interrupted "You don't have to tell us what you were doing here... Sorry for intruding. I'd thought I should walk around and see how much this place had changed and Wilkes here insisted on coming along." Jerry looked at them with admiration cause if it was him who had caught one of them he'd of asked what they were doing and why they were alone. He then realized that they most likely saw the doll he had subconsciously grabbed and tried concealing. He then said "My daughter turned twelve when I was assigned to watch you three years ago... about a week after I was assigned here she and my wife were killed in a bombing... I couldn't return and see that they got the funeral they deserved because I couldn't risk me being at their funeral when you awoke and saw a random man or women watching over you."

Morris then looked at Wilkes and saw that Wilkes had tuned out realizing it was not a conversation he needed to be listening to or even be in. Morris then looked back at Jerry and said "I'm so sorry Jerry your wife was one of the most friendly people I'd ever met and most likely will ever meet. She always helped out when someone was sad or angry by finding a way to make them think of how they were acting. Your daughter was one of the most beautiful little girls I'd ever seen and she had your mind and your wife's kindness. She helped many of our men calm down and think just like her mother, hell she once even got our grumpiest commander to smile." With that, Jerry started crying while laughing. When Jerry finally stopped he looked at Morris and Wilkes, and said "I'm sorry for making you two worry about me and thank you, Morris, you reminded me that even though my wife and daughter are dead they left a legacy that will be passed down" Morris and Wilkes looked at each other happily and then back to Jerry and then they all took a step forward and hugged one another. After they hugged Jerry was actually happy and thought 'When was the last time I'd actually been happy?'

He figured it had been some time since he couldn't remember. He then started thinking of what had transpired since his wife and daughter had died and remembered that the president had ordered him to tell Morris when he woke up that the war had ended but there were still battles going on and that the creature that had killed Kerry, Private John, and his whole squad was in charge of it and was ordering the surrender of the U.S.A! He looked at Morris with dread on his face once again which both shocked and scared Morris. Morris looked at him and asked "What's wrong Jerry? Did you remember something that you had forgotten?" Jerry shook his head slowly up and down and then said: "let's go to the old command room because I just remembered some news that you will need to be sitting to hear about."

Awhile later they were all sitting around the old command post's round table that had been moved there while Morris was in a coma. They had started talking about how the war had ended while on the way there so they had been walking slowly to the room. After Jerry finished telling Morris about the heroic work of Wilkes's trained dog squad as they were called since they attacked like rabid dogs and were as effective as a police dog chasing a criminal who was out running the police. But once he finished telling of the heroics he turned dour and turned to Morris and said "I have very bad news to tell you... You remember the creature that killed Kerry and Private John?" Morris looked at Jerry half horrified and half surprised because he thought that they had passed that part already, but he guessed that they had something to do with what has made Jerry have a bad look before so he answered: "Yes I do but they're both dead... aren't they?"

Jerry looked at Morris with stricken eyes and said "I'm very sorry to inform you but they both still live and the president requires your help in defeating them. I'm sorry I said we killed John earlier I forgot we recently found out he still lives... Still. I have been told to tell you that if you will help you will be honorably discharged after the battle is over or if you don't, but if you do you will be given whatever price you require. Oh, and I was also told that if you accept you will be put in charge of the whole army... which means you would be promoted to general of defense!" Morris looked at Jerry and said "I have to think this over I will tell you the answer later when I decide on what to do... Thank you for trying to go about it easily and not just saying it like it doesn't matter. You are truly one of my best friends Jerry." Jerry looked at Morris and tears started streaming down his face from happiness. Morris looked at him worried and was about to ask if he had said something wrong when Jerry said "Thank you Morris no one has told me that since Sergeant Gregory told me that when I accepted this job... Sadly he died a week afterward when a suicide bomber ran into his command post and blew him up. The building fell down and killed Sergeant Gregory and his whole squad."

Morris looked with pity in his eyes at Jerry and then said "I'm very sorry you haven't had any friends while I was in a coma... I bet while I was in a coma you and Wilkes became good friends." Jerry looked at Wilkes and said "Actually we barely talked he was mostly learning how to use the equipment to keep you alive. He also was learning how to use the needles so if you had a heart attack or something like that he could give you a shot of adrenaline after he shocks you." Morris then looked at him and said "OK and not to be rude but I would have been a lot happier without knowing that if I had a heart attack Wilkes was the one to give me the shot. No offense Wilkes." Wilkes looked at Morris and said, "None taken I understand I'm a novice of needles and your human technologies so I understand why you would be nervous."

Morris looked at Wilkes and saw that he wasn't hurt or mad at him for saying that. He also noticed that Wilkes had learned a lot about the human race while he was in the coma including how to speak fluently and pronunciation. He looked at Wilkes again and saw he was looking at Jerry with some Curiosity and wonder. Morris looked at Jerry then and saw that he was staring off into space in the direction of the door. Before Morris thought he told Jerry "you can go out there and think and if you want to leave to go visit your daughter and wife's grave since I am awake." Jerry looked at him surprised and said "I can't leave until I get an answer from you about being put back in command but this time in command of the whole damn army."

Morris thought and said, "O ya I forgot about that already... I guess I'll accept cause I want to make sure those two damn assholes die this time." Jerry then said "OK now I can leave and go to their graves but first I must tell you where to go. You remember the old Command post that was due to being demolished a week after you went into the coma? (Morris nods) Good cause that old command post was demolished and a new five-story one was built in its place. " Morris replied, "Ok... um, thank you for telling me where to go now go to your families graves and pray for their souls and tell them that I'm sorry I kept you from going to their burial ceremony." Morris then hugged Jerry while trying not to cry, for he felt horrible for being the reason Jerry couldn't go to their Burial Ceremony.

Jerry looked at Morris with no regret in his eyes and said "It's OK don't worry a friend recorded the whole thing for me. You needed me even if I wanted to go to their burial I couldn't leave you in case you woke up while I wasn't here because then you would be lost and confused... So don't worry about it, it wasn't your fault it was the fault of the creature that killed Kerry." Jerry started to cry and said "I still feel guilty I'm very sorry Jerry... Jerry... Wilkes, I'm very sorry to both of you since I bet I scared you both for being in a coma for so long..."
