{Chapter 1} ~ Dallas

Let me say this first so no one out there is confused. I hate Jessica Leyman.

She's the she-devil, the thorn who pricked my side and just continuously digs in deeper and deeper until she meets her goal of killing me all together. She is always bitter to me, being all sarcastic and dressing in freaking jeans and t-shirts. She's a girl for crying out loud, she should fucking dress like one! And it seems like her face is in a permanent sneer when I'm around her, and I'm just saying, that the sneer is not making me want to jump her bones anytime soon. I'm actually a bit afraid that she'll bite my head off, sometimes.

Like right now.

Adam Levine called us up the other day to all go to his record label, the one he signed us up for, since he apparently had some exciting news. Adam and I were pretty tight. Back before our band, City Fools, was put together, I auditioned for his show, The Voice, and he got me into his team. I guess America didn't see my awesomeness at the time, so I didn't get that far into the live shows, and neither did my roommate during the show, Colton Webb.

Then, Adam had this amazing idea. "Why not make a band?" he told Colton and I the day after we got voted off. That was a great question, why the hell not make a band? So, Colton and I shrugged, and we began looking for other band mates. We first got my friend from back home, Jimmy Ellesworth. That little punk's got spunk, even though he looks like that blonde dude from that boyband I see all over the magazines, One Direction.

And Jimmy thought of the question that would soon turn my very happy life into hell.

"What about a drummer?"

That's how we ended up with the she-devil troll.

"What the hell are you staring at, Smyth?" the she-devil spoke, knocking me out of our such fond memories of meeting. I look across the room to see that familiar sneer, her knotty blonde hair up in a loose bun like she couldn't give two fucks. Well good, since she won't get any fucks from that hairstyle, either.

"Oh, just admiring our first meeting. I still remember your first words to me. 'My eyes are up here, neanderthal. Not on my chest.' And sad bit is I was only staring at your chest to see if you had any boobs, but they're as nonexistent as your heart," I replied, staring at her chest, and squinting as to put my point of her having a flat chest.

Jess just fumes, and is about to say something when her knight in shining armor comes to her rescue. "Dallas, shut it already," Colton said, his English accent echoing around the room, while standing beside the blond girl, who just smiled gratefully at him. Now that's just sick, can I please have Jess' bag so I can puke in it?

I just roll my eyes, as the two begin to talk to one another. Whatever, I'll let the lovebirds be. I glance at Jimmy, and see he's on his phone, smiling as always. Might as well bug him, yeah? I walk over to the young teenager, and steal his phone.

"Come on, Dallas! Man, give me back my phone!"

"Mmm, let me think about that.. Nope."

"Dude, I'm texting this hot chick who said she wanted to show me her tits! Come on," Jimmy begged, making me look at him, cocking up my eyebrow.

"Now, why would such a young kid like you need to see that stuff? You're not even eighteen yet."

Jimmy huffed, and pouted at me, expecting his childish behavior to make me give him back his phone. Thinking about it, he actually did remind me of that blond guy from One Direction. Both are blond, blue eyes, baby faced, and fucking annoy the shit out of me. But hey, Jimmy is our little baby of the group, besides the kid practically worships the ground I walk on.
