[Vampire Knight] Deeper than Blood (Book 1)

Chapter Seven

"Akiko, wait!" Mikio shouted as he tried to keep up with the other Pureblood as she stormed across the campus towards the old Moon Dorm to confront Shizuka/Maria. After Kaname revealde that Maria was actually her mother Akiko had shattered the window and stormed off, causing Mikio to go after her. It was still day time but the Day Class weren't outside but doing their exams. Akiko was glade about that.

"Shizuka!" Akiko screamed as she pushed through the doors, coming to stand in the middle of the floor. "Shizuka!" The walls begun to splinter and crack, and she whirled around when she felt the presence behind her, sending the broken wood towards the owner of the presence.

"Control your powers my child," Shizuka/Maria says, not sounding afraid about Akiko's thundering anger. "Hold it in and let it out at the person who deserves it."

Akiko stopped the wood before they could pierce Shizuka/Maria, who stepped towards her. Mikio burst into the room, looking shocked at the floating wood in front of Shizuka/Maria. Akiko let go of the wood her powers were holding, dropping them to the floor with a loud clank. She fixed Shizuka/Maria with a threatening look and asked, "than who should I be releasing my anger on, Mother?"

"Rido Kuran," Shizuka/Maria answered. Akiko gasped.

"My father?" she asked. "Why?"

"Because," Shizuka/Maria said, taking another step towards Akiko, "he is the real enemy here. Not me."

Akiko looked over at Mikio, who had a serious pensive face. He took Akiko's hand as he said, "Shizuka, tell Akiko the truth. Now."

"Alright," Shizuka/Maria answered. She stepped towards Akiko and moved the bang out of Akiko's purple eye before placing her hand on Akiko's cheek. "Your eyes are the symbol of both your father and I. The red one is your father and the purple one is mine. Your purple eye will glow brighter if I'm near and the same with your red eye if your father is near."

"So why isn't her purple eye glowing now?" Mikio asked.

"Because I am not in my real body as you probably already know," Shizuka/Maria answered. "Because I did something four years ago I am being hunted. In order to come to this school I needed to hide my identity. And Maria Kurenai was willing to lend me her body."

"Why did you come here?" Akiko asked.

"I came here for more power," Shizuka/Maria answered. "To destroy your father. If Purebloods are equal in power our fight will go on for an eternity. I need more power to destroy him. Also, I was looking for you and I got the feeling that you will be here at Cross Academy. And I was right."

"You ... were looking for me?" Akiko asked, shocked.

"For fifteen years," Shizuka/Maria answered. "Finding you has been my top goal. I wanted you more than I wanted revenge on the Kiryus and much more than I wanted to kill Rido. It was always you Akiko."

Akiko begun to cry before she knew it, and she flung her arms around Shizuka/Maria, crying into her shoulder. Shizuka/Maria stroked Akiko's hair, cooing things into Akiko's ear she didn't exactly hear. Mikio shifted from foot to foot, not really knowing what he should do in this kind of situation. Finally he cleared his throat, causing mother and daughter to look up at him.

"What do we do know?" he asked. 

"I've made a deal with Yuki Cross," Shizuka/Maria said. "That she rather give herself to me or kill Kaname Kuran. I know she won't kill Kuran so I'll be taking her blood. But unfortunately I have to stop Zero from falling to Level E for her, so I'll be doing that for her."

Akiko thought about that. If Shizuka turns her cousin into a vampire Akiko could give her some of her Kuran blood and Awaken her back to her true Pureblood form. Akiko would have her favourite cousin back. Mikio, her mother and her cousin, the three people she has ever wanted to be with. 

"And than what?" Akiko asked.

"Leave Cross Academy with me and Ichiru," Shizuka answered. "Mikio can come too. I'll teach him about the Pureblood families like he wants. What do you say?"

Akiko looks at Mikio, who nodded. "Alright," Akiko agreed, looking at her mother. "I will go with you when you leave Cross Academy. I'll be there when you bite Yuki Cross because I have unfinished business with her, and Mikio and I will help you kill my father. Three Purebloods against one, that is not equal."

"What is your business with Yuki Cross?" Shizuka asked.

"You'll see," Akiko answered, grinning.

Flashback

"Yuki, guess what!" Akiko calls as she runs into the basement her cousin lived in. "One day I am going to meet my mother! Uncle Haruka says so!"

"Really?" Yuki asked, jumping off the couch she was sitting on and running over to Akiko. "What do you think she'll look like?"

"I think she'll be beautiful," Akiko answered, sitting onto the couch with Yuki in her lap. "She'll look like me. And she will love me."

"I'm sure she will," Yuki says. "All mummies have to love their children!"

(Shizuka's cage)

"Shizuka-Sama, another bait," the Senate member says, throwing a man wearing a brown kimono into the cage. He knelled in front of Shizuka but she didn't look at him. She wasn't up to  seeing a human looking up at her in fear. Instead she looked up at the blooming sakura tree, thinking about her daughter. She would be five now.

"Shizuka," the man says. He didn't call her 'Sama' like most humans do, and his voice was angry, not fearful. Shizuka turned to see that the man was glaring at her. "You really are a beast in human form aren't you? Why aren't you taking my blood?"

"What is your name?" Shizuka asked, surprising the man.

"Akuouji Miyamoto," the man answered. Shizuka found herself drawn to the man who was different from the other humans who were thrown into her cage. "What are you waiting for? Kill me."

"Why are you so determind for me to kill you?" Shizuka asked. The man glared harder at her.

"My son was taken from me," he answered. "He was the only one I had, so now I have nothing to live for. Kill me."

"My daughter was taken from me," Shizuka says. "You and I have the same experience. Come here." She held out her hand, which the man took. Shizuka pulled him to her and sunk her teeth into his neck, pulling them out before he turned to dust. She than gave him some of her blood and turned away from him. "Come with me. Let's find our children together."
