A/N: Writing this on my phone because my insomnia is acting up. >_<
Chapter 7, Fabulous news! Plus a surprise visit!
Finally after two excruciating weeks, Josie and I had our first sleepover. It was at her house and we were celebrating her fifteenth birthday(she was held back a year in sixth grade.) Ethan and I scrounged our money together to buy her present. It was a light leather jacket she had her eyes on for weeks and we decided to buy it for her. She ecstatically squealed and hugged us both. She nearly tackled me over like a football player does but I was glad she liked it. She threw it on and ran upstairs for something.
"Do you think she liked it?" Ethan asked, I rolled my eyes and cocked my head at him.
"What do you think?" I asked. He shrugged just as there was a bang at the door.
"We knows you in there, Smith!" Someone yelled. Ethan stood.
"Damn." He muttered. "C'mon, Clem." He said grabbing my wrist and pulled me upstairs. Josie was walking down when he also grabbed her wrist and pulled us into Josie's room. "Stay in your closet, you two." He commanded.
"Who is it?" Josie demanded.
"People who want to get revenge for something I did." He responded. "Stay." He commanded as he closed the door and the front door banged open. Josie and I scooted up to the door and listened. There was shuffles, grunts, and a couple cries of pain. Josie's door opened.
"Where is she?" A gruff voice asked.
"Friend's house." Ethan answered grunting in pain.
"Which friend's house? The one who looks like Snow White that we saw a couple weeks ago. Or that boy." The gruff voiced man growled.
"Dunno. She disappears a lot. She could be gone weeks, days, months." Ethan replied. There was a shuffle and a grunt.
"Just tell us. Or we'll kill you instead." The gruff voice commanded.
"Like. I. Said. I. Don't. Know." Ethan replied gasping. Josie moved and I held her down.
"Shhh. They want you. You'll give away our position if you make something go bump." I hushidly said as they had Ethan against the closet door.
"Fine. We'll just kill you then." The gruff voiced man said.
"Then who would take care of my sister? I practically take care of her right now." Ethan replied grunting.
"Her mother."
"She just stares at that flipping wall all the time. Do you think she's capable of taking care of a fifteen year old girl?"
"What about your father?"
"He's in jail. Plus he smokes and drinks. Their not at all capable don't you think?" Ethan asked. There was silence.
"Fine just give us five of your gang member names and their locations." They finally replied. More silence.
"Fine." Ethan replied after thirty minutes or less and the gang members left, Josie and I burst out the door and ran to Ethan. He was leaning against Josie's bed. "Good job on hiding. Thought you two would give yourselves away." Ethan said wincing. Josie and I looked at each other.
"I'm calling the ambulance." Josie replied and ran downstairs. There was a shuffle behind me. I turned to see Mrs. Smith.
"Mom?" Ethan asked staggering over to her.
"Ethan. What happened?" She asked. Her pale eyes glimmered with concern. I watched as she helped Ethan downstairs. I stood at the doorway. I could hear Josie squeal with delight. I smiled. Well it appears Josie got her birthday wish. I thought then followed downstairs. Josie and her mom were hugging. I was surprised at how much alike they looked, both had pale eyes and light brown hair. I smiled at Josie and she bounded over to me.
"My mom, LIVES!" She yelled happily. I laughed and hugged her.
"I'm glad your mom is back." I told her.
"Me too." Josie replied.
:D Happiness all around! Thanks to Dest, I finally got this out. XD She gave me the idea.
