Or can I?
Silver Dust suddenly felt a surge of fear. What if she didn't make it? The kitten squinted her eyes closed. Her spirits fell when she felt that she was falling.
I can't make it. I didn't make it. I let my friends down. Now I will be endlessly falling.
She started to recall Compass's words, You must believe that there is another side for there to one. If you believe and you jump, you will make it. But if you panic and become frightened, the other side does not exist and you will be forever falling down into the dark chasm, for space and time have no end.
If space and time have no end, then, if I really try, can I reach the other end. If I'm falling endlessly, it's the same thing as standing endlessly. If I cannot reach the bottom, then I'm not really falling, I'm floating in one place. I at anytime can reach the other side. If only I can believe...
These thoughts made Silver Dust feel a lot better. Falling endlessly wasn't as frightening as she thought, because she was always falling, but there was no end, so she was not falling, she was waiting to reach the other side.
She closed her blue eyes. She felt that she was falling, but she was believing that she was jumping. She imagined the other side, hidden by the dark fog, hidden out of her sight, but right there.
The silver kitten opened her eyes. Then it all happened like it was all a dream. The sooty, remarkable fog rushed from her path. They looked like a school of fish, diving away from the craving shark. Like a flock of birds, streaming away from a snapping crocodile. All at the same time, all at once.
The lurid black sand seemed to grow under Silver Dust's paws. Compass and Bobtail Blue arose from the mist. Before she knew it, the silver kitten was scrambling on the ground. The sand molded itself to the shape of Silver's paws.
"I made it," Silver Dust uttered softly, "I made it to the other side!"
