Chapter 1 A good start

The sky was blue and the breeze kissed your face as you sat on top of a
grassy green hill looking upon Zelda's castle.
You sighed thinking about what it would be like to live in castle. Royal servants awaiting your every command and the clothes would be of the finest fabric or having royal feasts with other kingdoms or even better meeting with the amazing boy hero Link.
Link never saved you or anything but you've always wondered what it would be like to be his apprentice.
Other Hylain girls just love him be cause he's a hero but you? No, All you want to do is help, you want to experience what he did. A life full of adventure and danger around every stone.
Unfortunately it was all a dream too far from reach.
You sighed and adjusted your ragged shirt and pants. You were very poor compared to other Hylain girls but kind and brave.
While you sat on the hill, movement in the bottom left corner of your eye caught your attention.
Link and Epona! You sat in awe imaging what beast he was off to save the castle from now. Was it the great evil Gonandorf or perhaps the moon was falling again..
You changed your position to laying on your belly with your hands holding your head while your elbows sat against the hill for support.
"Link is lucky." You thought "going on adventures to save the world...shoot I can't even go beyond the safety of my own house."
Suddenly you watched link and Epona make a left...they were heading straight for your house!
"What the what!" You yelled as you sat up and darted back to your house like your whole body was on fire.
"Ma! Ma! Link is coming this way!" You yelled as you entered you wooden and clay home.
You looked in the kitchen and the bedrooms but your mother was no where to be found.
"What! She didn't tell me she was going to the market!" You thought.
Suddenly you heard horse foot steps slow in front of the door.
You swallowed hard "why would link be coming here.......I'm a nobody!" You thought. There was a soft but firm knock on the door.
You felt your heart race. "Don't just stand there answer the door!" You thought to yourself.
You slowly made your way to the door and cautiously opened the door which made the door make a soft creak sound.
There stood the boy hero Link with his back faced to the door, the one who saved the world from beasts and natural disasters.
You swallowed one last time before you opened the door all the way so you could see him all the way.
"Y-yes?" You stuttered.
Link turned around and his icy blue met yours.
He smiled then handed you a paper, you looked at the paper then back at him and slowly took the paper from him.
You looked at the paper with wide eyes.

Dear Y/n L/n

I, princess zelda as offered you to join the royal banquet of the castle tomorrow at dusk.
Also I received your letter and is happy to inform you that there was a opening for guard training and personally link will be training you.
We will discuss more of the training over the banquet tomorrow.

You took your eyes off the paper in stared into the distance in awe. Zelda just invited you to come to the royal banquet!
A thought crossed your mind turning your smile upside down. You quickly twirled around wide eyed.
"Oh no! What I'am going to wear! I can't go to a royals banquet in rags! What I am going to do!" You groaned pulling on your pointy ears.
You turned back around to see link slightly concerned.
"I'll be there!" You smiled, link smiled back and nodded farewell before jumping on his horse. You waved farewell and no sooner than he arrived he was off back toward the castle.
You quickly shut the door with your back to it and slid to the floor hugging your knees.
"How am I suppose to attend a royal banquet? I don't even have shoes!" You whimpered to your self.
Suddenly there was another knock on the door. You stood up and opened the door to see your mother in her wore out cloak with a small bag.
"Hello dear" you mother smiled. "Hello mother."You greeted, stepping aside to let your mother in.
Your mother walked in "with luck I found some cabbage and some potatoes!" Your mother said.
"That's great news! I've have some news as well!" You pleaded.
"Oh? What kind of news dear?" Your mother asked. "I have been invited to the royal banquet by princess Zelda!" You informed.
Your mother gasped almost dropping the potatoes in the kitchen "really! Y/n that's wonderful!" "I know but there's only one problem.." You muttered.
"And what's that?" Your mother asked with concern. "I don't have anything nice to wear." You groaned, your mother looked toward the floor as if processing what you just said.
"Hmm well dear I only have five rupees but you can try the market to see if they have anything." "Really? But that would be last of the rupees mother.."
Your mother gave you smile and approached you "sweet heart this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. You can't miss a banquet with the princess." She gently touched your cheek with the back of her hand before going off to her bedroom to fetch the rupees.
When your mother retuned she held a small brown fabric bag and handed it to you. "Here sweetie....oh and take my cloak." Your mother plopped the bag of rupees In your hand and took off her brown cloak revealing her blue dirty worn out dress. You took the cloak and put it on. "Thank you mother!" "Don't thank me yet! Now go it's getting late!" Your mother chuckled gently guided you out the door. "I'll be back soon mother." You said turning back to her she smiled and waved.
You pulled your cloak hood over your head and made your way down to the town.
Following the dirt road you finally made it down to the market.
There was a large man...no not a muscular large man....he had a wooden stand with a lot of different clothing, including a dress that made your eyes twinkle. "Um...excuse me...sir?" You asked. The large man looked at you and smiled. "Oh why hello little one see anything you like?" The man smiled showing his yellow rotten teeth.
"Um.... yes how much is that dress there?" You asked.
The dress wasn't anything like a royal dress but it was nice for a poor young girl like yourself. It was purple with golden buttons and long enough to reach your ankles. The sleeves were short. There were some purple shoes that go with it too.
"That whole outfit would be 1000 rupees dear." The man said
You eyes grew wide when you looked at the dress then back at the small bag your mother had given you.
"Sir I only have 5 rupees....is there anything that you would give for five rupees? You asked with puppy eyes.
"Five rupees? I'll give you the shoes but nothing else dear..." He smiled uneasily.
You sighed looking at the ground.
"Dear what would you need a dress like this for anyway?" He asked
"I have been invited to the royal banquet.." You sighed still looking at the ground.
"The royal banquet eh?....well maybe I'll consider one thing.." He smiled evily...
"Huh?" You asked wide eyed in shock.
"That necklace on your neck looks nice for my daughter...how about a trade?"
The necklace around your neck was sacred and was given to you by your brother who you lost so many years ago.
You gripped your necklace "I'm sorry sir but no can do." The man looked in shock than his expression changed to anger. The man snatched you up by the cloak which made the hood fall revealing your face.
Shocked by how strong he was he lifted you about an inch off the ground.
"Hm looks like I'll have to take it from you then!" The man chuckled evilly.
You squirmed trying get free but nothing work you screamed but no one did anything.
"This should be fun." The man crackled as he pulled a knife from his back pocket.
You gasped knowing you were going to die.
Suddenly a shield hit the man face knocking a tooth out causing him to drop you. You landing in your bottom scooting back.
You looked to see the man holding the shield was Link! For the first time ever you've been saved by him!.
"Why you little!" The man yelled suddenly he whistled and 3 of his friends can charging with knives.
Link drew his sword and smirked as the man and his friends surrounded link.
Link hit one with his shield in the face while another man charged at him with a knife. Link dodged then trip the man making him fall into the wooden stand making it collapse right on top of him.
Link fought one of the men with his sword when the one that tried to take your necklace tried to sneak up behind him.
Out of instinct you reacted and jumped on the mans back making him try to stab with a knife. You and them man you were on stumbled backs wards giving you the chance to grab a club and smack the man in the face repeatedly knocking him out. The man tumbled forward leaving you not a single scratch.
You got up and brushed yourself off you glanced at link who looked at you wide eyed all long with everyone that saw the action.
Link approached you and patted you on the back smiling everyone else cheered . You felt pretty good about yourself you just took down your first bad guy!
As your reward some Hylains handed you the dress and the shoes you wanted for FREE!
