"You don't have to do this," I screamed, "come back to me, it's not worth it!"
I awoke with a start, it had all seemed too real, it hadn't seemed like a dream. I looked over at my clock, 4 A.M. I had time, so I stayed still, replaying the dream in my head, over and over.
My favorite card game, a trading card game called Everlast, being real, now that's a weird one.
The game was simple really. You took the role of a Realm Master, and cast spells accordingly to protect your realm against attack. There were tons of formats for the game, but I preferred the standard. You played with a basic forty card deck, made of summonable creatures and spells. The more powerful a creature, the more complicated it was to bring it out, and certain conditions must be met for certain spells. My most powerful creature was a dragon, who on his own wasn't too good.
His special ability, on the other hand, was. He grew more powerful with each enemy he defeated, gaining the power of those he destroyed. Quite obviously, this was a very rare card. He was my favorite to pull in a tournament.

I prepared for the day's tournament. I put my deck in my bag, and ran out to my friend, Ryan's car. He was always the one to back me up (and protect me from the hordes of nerdy guys) at tournaments. He seemed surprised at my enthusiasm, considering it was an average day.
"Why so cheery?"
"I added a new spell to my deck."
"What does it do?"
"It only makes all my dragons invincible," I smiled evilly, "My whole creature base is dragons."
"I see... I really hope you don't play me."
I just laughed, since he said this every time. We were buddies since second grade, after all. He was the one I'd play ninja with at recess in grade school, and video games with in middle and now high school.
Once we arrived at the tournament, we noticed a lot of the people who were participating were already there. I stepped into the tournament hall, and immediately everyone was staring at me. It was a small tournament, with only about forty people in all (compared to the hundreds I was used to) so it figured I was the only girl.
The tournament was pretty average, I was in the middle lot of the players, so when I got a prize I was really surprised. It looked like an empty blue card sleeve, but it wasn't. It was a blue card, with no artwork, and its flavor text was "You know what to do."
Confused, I asked, "What's this?"
"Specialty promo card. have fun with it."
I looked to see the winner of the tournament walking away from me. Apparently he decided to give me part of his winnings.
I got home and decided to rest and read a book. I got a paper cut, and the blood got on the promo card, which prompted me to jump up as if it would help. Then something strange happened.
The card began to glow and shimmer.
