My dad and mom wanted to speak to me when I got back inside. Everyone had gone home from the party, I was glad.
"I'm not marrying him," I said before they could get a word in. I sat down on one of the chairs, my dad sat across from me, my mom stood.
"Yes you are. You have to," my dad said. My mom was pacing back in forth.
"No I don't. I don't love him I can't marry him."
"It's not about love. It's a buisness arrangement. He will provide for you." My mom just stayed quiet letting my dad do all the talking. Like always.
"What do you get out of it? Cause god knows you wouldn't make an arrangement unless you got a good deal."
"I get to know my baby girl will be taken care of."
"Stop lying to me. Tell me what you get out of it."
"Wow you are deffiently my daughter. Okay the truth is I will gain control of Matts father's restaurant chain."
"Why do you need it? You already own almost everything."
"It's taking buisness away from my restaurants. We are loosing to much money."
"We have enough to spare."
"No Anastasia we dont. We need this deal. Or else we will loose our title."
"How'd it get like this?"
"Someone stole a bunch of money awhile ago, and it's now coming back to haunt us."
"I can't believe you're letting her, and her son work here. After what they did to us. This is their families fault," my mom butted in. What was she taking about?
"What? Katarina and Xander, what did they do?" I asked.
"Katarinas husband is the enemy, he stole our money betrayed our trust. Having them work for us gives us a chance to watch over them, and make sure they don't try to do the same as he did."
"They wouldn't do anything, I've known Xander since I was only 3," I said.
"Anastasia, people change. He's not the same guy you knew. Becoming poor changes people for the worst."
"I don't believe that. I can't believe that."
"Well you've got a lot to learn then," my dad patted my shoulder and walked away.
"You need to marry him Anastasia. We need you too marry him," my mom said getting up. She left to go upstairs, to the bedroom down the hall from my fathers.
I didn't sleep at all, just tossed and turned trying to make a decision. Also thinking about what my dad said. Xanders dad stealing money? Him and my dad were best friends. Why would he do that?
I was still unsure by the morning time. My parents left the subject alone during breakfast, after I told them I was thinking it over.
It was the first day in over a year that I didn't get meet Xander in the morning. I couldn't let him effect my decision. After all it was my decision.
