Taylor's P.O.V

"Kids, you're going to be late for school." I yell as I walk down the hallway noticing for once the lack of noise around the household as I walk downstairs to start breakfast. As I walk downstairs I take a minute to drink in the essence that is life just outside of L.A. We had decided really early on before Allie started pre-school that we wanted to be situated somewhere that our kids could run around and have fun whilst being kids. Both Karlie and I had quickly warmed to the idea of L.A so that Karlie could continue to model and I could write, perform or do whatever I wanted but I chose not to. I decided that I wouldn't be an absentee parent to our children and whilst Karlie was still modelling I had wanted a family for so long there was no way I was missing it.

After releasing my sixth album while we were still in New York we had decided that we needed a change. Especially after discovering that Karlie was infertile due to a misplaced IUD when she was first modelling, it had been the suggestion of her then manager Zoe and was said to have been safe. For a long time after we found out Karlie had refused to talk about the infertility and conversations about having a large family ceased to exist outside of our apartment but all this changed when we left New York, leaving all of our demons behind we left to better our family and strengthen our relationship with each other. We had been in L.A for six months when Big Machine let me out of my contract, I chose not to renew it as Karlie and I had been discussing trying for a baby. Karlie told me that she had lessened the workload for the upcoming year and with Allie starting school I no longer had any reason not to give it a try. We did all the preparations for it, ate healthy which was hard with a four year old and on the same day Allie started school, we discovered that I was almost nine weeks pregnant and Karlie and I were overjoyed. We had waited until we reached three months before calling family and friends and letting them all know but they were so excited that they didn't really care only Allie proved to be a problem when she found out and we could understand why so my brother flew out to L.A from Nashville where he landed a job working in a theatre company as a photographer and within a few hours he had her excited for the baby too.

The pregnancy itself was relatively easy, morning sickness kicked in at eleven weeks and lasted for four weeks which pleased me immensely because the only thing worse than being sick was having to throw up everything that you eat. Karlie was so nice during the pregnancy, she worked local day jobs and never travelled out of L.A without me. The days when she worked early she took Allie to school so I could sleep and on July 28 2019 I gave birth to our son Flynn Jacob Swift-Kloss at 8.46pm. He was a little early but healthy as a horse and screamed at the nurses until he was placed in Karlie's loving arms and she rocked him to sleep. He cried a lot over the first six months, not liking to be put down for long but as soon as he started to crawl at nine months he was all for freedom and liked to be alone. Allie thought he was the best gift ever and at six years old she changed her mind when he began to chew on her Barbie dolls. Time passed quickly as we got used to having a little one around again but we never forgot about the paperwork that my mom had filed for us in 2014 and at the start of 2021 after being together for seven years we decided to adopt again. We had appointments for almost every foster home service in L.A but we lucked out at number one with Ryan. He was eight at the time and a total sweetheart, missing his two front teeth after being hit with a baseball he was full of life and joy and by the end of the week he was living with us. Life with an eight year old, six year old and nine month old was tough sometimes but we managed. Karlie would come home some nights absolutely drained but hearing our kids laughing or watching them outside brought the sparkle back to her eyes.

The sparkle was only ever challenged in 2025 when we decided to use the last sperm donation that we had brought and see if it would work. I was nearly thirty five but Karlie wanted it so bad that I couldn't say no to her. We decided to do the home test which would tell us if it was successful or not. But after doing all three tests that were all negative we hugged each other and tried to move on. It wasn't until I went to pick up the kids from school that I noticed how my sense of smell had increased. I could smell Ryan's dirty socks from the next room sometimes and one day after Karlie had come home from a shoot I told her we needed to see a doctor. "Is everything okay Taylor?" she questioned looking at me intently. I knew I couldn't lie to her but I didn't want to get her hopes up so simply said. "Yeah it's all okay, I just want to do my yearly check-up." She nodded and I was thankful she hadn't asked me anything more. After dropping the kids to Selena's place Karlie drove us to the doctor, for some reason the stakes felt higher this time and I knew that it was now or never. If I was pregnant we would have four kids, if not three. But I didn't care either way I just wanted to know if I was crazy for thinking it. But I didn't need to be concerned as a blood test proved that I was pregnant an after a quick ultrasound we were told I was thirteen weeks. Karlie could hardly contain her joy and quickly called everyone she could, posted it to social media and instantly told the kids who seemed happy enough. Flynn was a little upset about not being the baby anymore but got over it when we decorated a new room for him.
