The walls of the area had never seemed to change to the boy that sat there shackled in the cage , the cold bars had left marks on his skin from where he battered himself on them, just how long had he'd been in there, one month, two..three? It was all blurred to him, so much so that he'd forgotten his own name and identity, who was he really? The men that kept them there, they never said. Only called this area The Circus.
Many other people, some men, some women, some young and old, they were all in this ... Place, awaiting to be auctioned off , why ? He never asked much, nor did he have the energy to fight anymore. Whether he fought or fleed, in the end, they would always win. A man in a top hat, or 'The Ring Leader' walked in to take stock . The name they'd gave him, was 'Robin' , he was a slim built boy with black hair that covered his eyes, his skin was porcelain and he had crystal blue eyes. He was 17 years old.
"It's your go today, bird. Do your best and don't mess up, or you know the cost."
He smiled as he continued to take names and ages. Robin didn't like to think of being sold, the amount of times that people had returned, covered in blood or in bruises, was alarming. What if that had happened to him, what if he was just used and then returned like an old doll. That thought had often caused him to have lucid nightmares where he'd wake up screaming in terror.
The first time he'd remembered being brought here, was when he was at least 14, he didn't know much about the reason, apart from the person just tossing him to the Ring Leader and running as fast as he could. After that, it was all just... Painted gray lines to him, no one ever wanted to see him on auction, so this was the first time and he had been far from willing to participate.
Hours came and passed before he'd been led out of the back area , away from the others that he'd shared with to the main arena where the shows and markets had been placed. The Ring Leader walked in from his plateau and started his speech. Robin eyed the many men that had entered, there were never any women in this area , all men. The men were aged from 20-30-40 all older ones.
"Hello my , fine, fine gents. We have here, a fine and most adorable specimen. Given to the arena at the tender age of just 14, he hasn't been touched. He is very affectionate and is incredibly shy. So folks, give your hands up, for Robin!"
The applaud , the geer, it was all new for him, but he didn't like it...the..the looks, they were not looking at him as a human, it was as an object, this is how he was viewed. An object to use and to throw away like trash...he wanted to be looked at like a human..not a doll.
Hands pulled off every inch of his clothes until he was reduced to only holding a shawl, his privates were exposed as the Ring Leader went on to show him off to everyone, the boy wanted to die, this exposure, it wasn't nice . It made him feel dirty and wrong. Clutching his blanket, he curled into a ball as the many men eyed his form.
"Let's start the bids, do I hear... 100? 200?? What's that 500?!? 1000?!? I don't think we will get much more for the little thing, going once, twice sol-"
The door to the arena slammed open and a man walked in, clad only in a black trench coat and a top hat , it coveted his face as he dropped a case, in a silky voice he called out.
"$20,000....in full cash... Up front"
The man said as he pushed the case to the Ring Leader, who just stared agape at this stranger in fine clothes, he cleared his throat and stood up right as he walked to Robin and took him by the leash.
"Sold, to the fine man in the coat."
Robin was so busy cowering that he'd never even noticed the man that he'd been sold to had walked up to him, lifting his head, the tears that had been shed were on full show. The man took his thumb and wiped them away . Through the mask it was hard to see what he was doing.
"Poor little thing, scare you ? Did they?"
He asked softly as Robin took a few moments to calm down and nod to him. The man just lifted the boy up and walked out with him, keeping a hold of his leash, he pushed the boys head I to his chest as he turned to the arena and took out a small remote.
"They won't now."
With a push of the button, the arena was lit in smoke , all the people there choked and spluttered as they tried to run out of the smog filled building, shaking from the sight, Robin stared up into the mask of the man who'd just bought him and blown up the same place he'd once lived...all the lives...all the other people he'd met....gone...
As they moved away, the child began to wonder, was he safe with this man, or would he have been safer being sold to someone else. The other seemed to catch on to this thought and stopped in his tracks to look at the terrified boy in his grasp.
"Let me make, something , crystal clear to you..."
He said as he stared into the boys eyes, the fear and the sorrow, they filled him with a strange lust as those hues shook. This child, he seemed... Special, why should such a toy, no, a treasure, be filthied by scum of the world, when he could own it for himself.
"You are not a human, you are a trophy, something to own. I will not hesitate to kill anyone who will try and take my belongings, which, you are now."
Those words sent pure shock into the boys system.. So he was still, in the end nothing but an object to own...is that all he would ever be? A toy to own and to ... Break? They walked ahead more until a large mansion had came into view. Robin scrunched his eyes to see and couldn't help but find it familiar, had he'd been here before ?
"Welcome home, little bird, let's try and get on, shall we?"
The man said as he jabbed a needle with a strange looking lilac liquid into the boys neck, he watched Robin's pupils go wide before passing out into the warmth of his chest, from behind his mask, there was a cruel smile playing on his lips.
"I'll ensure you have a pleasent stay...my.. beautiful...little...treasure ..."
He whispered as he brought the child into the front door, before he closed it, he made sure there were no witnesses and slammed it shut.
