Realization

Eren got up, still looking into the Captain's eyes. Levi looked away and began to walk to his horse. Eren was frozen. He almost looked like a little school girl with a giant crush. Mikasa ran over to Eren, checking for bruises and injuries. He shook her off once again.
" Mikasa please. I appreciate your concern, but I'm not five years old anymore. I can handle myself. "
Mikasa looked at him like a strict mother.
" I know Eren, but I made a promise to your mother...that I would- "
" Protect me. I get it! Why can't you just leave me alone! "
Eren stomped away from Mikasa. He was so sick of her patronizing him like that. As if he was a little child.

" You've taken quite a liking to Cadet Jaeger, shorty. " said Erwin in a teasing tone. Levi blushed a little but turned his head and scoffed.
" I'm simply doing what is being asked of me. That's all. "
" Whatever you say. " Erwin answered, " Alright Cadets! It's time to return to base and have dinner. Sasha, you stay beside me and the Captain! We don't want you to consume every piece of food we own. "
Sasha sighed and jogged over to the Commander. Levi scanned the crowd of Cadets for a certain brunette. He finally spotted him and called out to him.
" Jaeger! Run along side me! "
Eren perked up and ran to the Captain. Mikasa gave Levi a death stare and scoffed. Levi evilly grinned. Eren made it to his side.
" Sir? You needed something? " Eren called to Levi who was on his horse, which made him "taller".
" Not at all. I just wanted you by my side. " Levi gave him a slight smirk which made Eren blush like crazy. He tried to look down to hide his face.

At the dining hall, everyone was cheerful that no soldiers had been lost that day. Some of the soldiers danced around with each other while spilling their beer left and right. Eren sat with his usual two friends, Armin and Mikasa. For the special occasion, Armin whipped out some chocolate covered pocky. Eren gasped.
" A-Armin! You can get in trouble for having that! "
" Nonsense. It's fine I promise. We might as well enjoy it now while we're still alive. "
Eren sighed and took a few pocky sticks and stuffed them in his mouth. Mikasa shrugged and took a few. She tried putting one in her mouth at a time to see if Eren would want to chew on the opposite side which would lead to them sharing a kiss. It didn't work.

Levi leaned on a wall in back of the dining hall. Admiring Eren and chuckling once in a while at Mikasa's attempts at flirting. He saw Eren slightly insert a pocky stick into his mouth. He unintentionally turned his head towards Mikasa, giving her an opportunity. Levi reacted quickly and sat next to Eren. Just as Mikasa was about to start eating Eren's pocky, Levi turned the young cadet's head by the chin and started eating the pocky all the way to his mouth and pecked his lips quickly so no one would notice. Mikasa, who witnessed the whole thing, slammed her hands on the table and stood up.
" LISTEN UP PIPSQUEAK, EREN IS MI- "
Armin stared at her as if she was crazy ( he had not seen what just happened ).
" Mikasa, chill. What's the matter with you all of a sudden? You can't yell at the Captain that way. "
Levi stuck his tongue out at Mikasa and looked at blushing Eren. He came to a realization that he really just did that and suddenly became completely flustered.
