"Camila! Where have you been?" Lauren shouted at me through the phone.

"What do you mean? I just woke up." I answered.

"Your shift began almost 2 hours ago! We need you now. This place is packed!"

"My shift? But it's only..." I turned to look at my alarm clock sitting on my night table as it read 8:54a.m. Shoot. I was so late. My shift began at 7 in the morning and here I was in bed. Definitely never pulling an up all-nighter when I got work the next day ever again. "...sh.it, I'm so sorry Lauren, I'll be there as soon as possible. I promise."

"Alright, I'll see you soon." She hung up.

As soon as she ends the call, I stood up and ran towards my closet to grab my uniform for the day and lay it on my bed. I went straight to the bathroom and turned on the shower. I didn't have time to wash my hair but, I honestly do not care how it looked today. The water was warm and helped relax the muscles in my body as it rapidly streamed on my skin. After pouring body soap and rinsing it off, I step out of the shower and dry myself quickly. I wear my uniform and slip on a pair of black converse on my feet. A few swipes of mascara and eyeliner were applied on my eyes to help me not look so dead. I decided to put my dark and long curly hair in a messy braid. I grabbed my car keys along with my purse and walked out of the apartment, making sure to lock it behind me.

There were a lot of men in the hallway, which was very unusual, considering this was the most boring and ugly floor in the whole building. I wonder what all the ruckus was about, but right now I needed to get going so I brush it off and head to the elevator pressing the button labeled as "Lobby" as soon as I step in. When the doors reopen, more men are exposed before my eyes. It appears that they work for a moving company as their uniforms read "Rosa Del Monte Moving Corp." Someone was definitely moving and it was on my floor. Wonderful.

I felt eyes on me, but I kept walking towards my car, hopping in it and quickly started the ignition. On my way to work, all I could think about was who could possibly move into that apartment building and why? I mean, it's definitely not the best place to find good apartments. I'm pretty certain that there are better places to stay around the area so why choose that one? Maybe because it was cheaper than all the others? I didn't know.

"Oh there you are! Go check in and help me out here." Yelled Lauren as I settled my items in my locker.

"Sorry I'm so late. I was-"

"No time for explanations. I know you aren't irresponsible with your work schedule so I'll let this one pass. Just please don't let it happen again? Okay?"

"Thanks Lauren." I give her a small smile. "I owe you one, big time."

"Well you can start by helping me take care of this place."

"Why is this place so f.ucking packed? What is going on here?" I question quite confused by the amount of costumers we have at this time of the day.

"Listen, I honestly have no idea why, whatsoever. Apparently, there's some famous people in the area and they're supposed to have a signing here today, but I see nothing. Just a bunch of fans, I'm assuming." Lauren explains.

"Okay this is actually quite exciting. I wonder who these famous people are." I jump in excitement.

"You're such a child sometimes." Lauren chuckles, shaking her head at me.

"Nothing wrong with living life with a little bit of thrill, Lauren." I say, walking away towards my working area to set it up.

I began to refill cup slots and bringing out straws to refill the small buckets we had. I hated working in the coffee shop section of our store. I would much rather work in the second floor, which was where all the books, magazines, etc. were located.
