Picking up his futon, he made a mental note to get food from the kitchen before setting out on the dumb journey his mind couldn't stay quiet about.
Marc had reasons to believe people were on the island with him unless, how could he explain the things that happened on the island like Bonnie suddenly disappearing or the American actor and his boyfriend appearing out of nowhere? The last time they had seen a helicopter, it had been to drop Bonnie and he was sure it didn't stop anywhere else on the island. At least he would have noticed something.
There were people on the island before Bonnie and he was going out to find out where they were. And he knew just where to start from.
Closing the door behind him, he tried to make minimum noise as he walked quickly past all the other men's room. He wasn't sure if they were all in but he was sure Brian and Ramus were. He could basically hear Ramus moan from the stairs.
When they had had sex, everyone knew. The walls weren't exactly sound proof and Ramus didn't even sound like he was being quiet about it. The noise had made everyone instantly awkward. Honestly, he never thought that would have any effect on any of them but days later and they were hearing Doug and Nathan's.
And that had shocked Marc speechless. Dave couldn't even believe it. Ever since then, it had been awkward to be around John. Still weird how the biologist still hung around Doug like a lost puppy. Dave actually admitted he felt terrible watching them.
Marc, on the other hand, didn't care, but it made him realize something as Dave cuddled up to him last night. Just because they were paired, doesn't mean no one can come and take Dave away from him. It brought back his old insecurities when he used to date women and that had made him pull Dave closer to himself.
As much as he hated the kid, the kid made him feel special and he didn't want to lose that feeling.
But right now, he didn't want that kid following him on his quest especially when it was going to get dark. So when he saw Dave entering the kitchen he had to start thinking fast.
Dave brightened when he saw him and quickly came to stand beside him. "Hey Marc. Haven't seen you out of the room today."
"I haven't been. Just patiently waiting for this whole thing to be over."
Dave nodded then glanced out the small window in front of the sink. "I heard John's still sleeping in the same room with Doug."
"They still think we don't know?"
"I don't care." Dave shook his head and smirked. "That's their business. I'm just relieved no one's available to steal you away from me."
"Stop saying nonsense." He rolled his eyes, adjusting the strap on his backpack then said as he turned to leave, "I'm going for a hike. I might be back late."
"Where are you going?"
"Somewhere I don't get to see your face." He called as he walked past Michael sleeping on the long couch. He looked so far from gone.
"Oh fine. If you see me sleeping with one of these men, don't have a cow."
The Asian stopped in his steps, feeling the dread and annoyance course through him. He wanted to turn back, get the kid and carry him along, but that would be dead weight when it got dark. A lot of things could be out there where he was going and they hadn't been to that part of the island.
Taking a deep breath, he continued forward, hoping the English kid would be loyal enough to wait for him.
The walk was long. Longer than he had expected. He had past the amazing waterfall he and Dave had once taken a bath in. You could imagine what happened. And now, he was heading for the Dark woods that had been west of them. It was getting dark and quick, and it suddenly made him regret his decision of travelling alone.
