I stormed into the commonroom and up to the dormitories. Plunking myself down on my bed, I let out a long, tired sigh.

"Whats got your knickers in a knot?"

I looked up and saw a young girl, around my age, sitting on the bed next to mine. She was in her pjs and brushing her long, jet black hair.

"Sorry to startle you, I guess you were so deep in thought you didn't see me. The name's Rosetta Blackburn, but you can call me Rose", she said, smiling.

"H-hi sorry, nice to meet you. My name is Catherine Demario, I guess you could call me the new girl, haha." I smiled timidly and began to take off my robes.

"I see, you look a bit stressed, I take it you didn't have a very successful first day?", Rosetta asked.

"To be honest, its been downright aweful, my little encounter with Draco Malfoy was the cherry on top", I answered, rolling my eyes.

She laughed, setting down her brush. "Malfoy is .. quite the character I must say. Pity you had to put up with him on the first day"

"He isn't the most pleasant company, I have to admit" I said, laughing as I slipped into my jimjams.

"Well, I'm gonna get some shut-eye now, it was great talking to you Kate!" and with that, Rose turned off her lamp and shut the drapes surrounding her bed.

I smiled inwardly, happy that I had made at least one friend today, hopefully tomorrow would be better.

Draco's Point of View

There was something interesting about that Demario girl, she wasn't just gorgeous but witty too. If only I'd been a bit easier on her, it was her first day here after all. Oh well, they always come crawling back. Still, that mysterious heir she has to her .. its intoxicating! When I was pulling that stray hair from her pretty face I felt a pang of pain from her, like I was burning inside too. Thank Merlin I know how to hide my emotions or I'd have cringed and given her the pleasure of her insults having an effect on me. I must tell father about this, he will be most intrigued ...

Catherine's Point of View

That night I had a horrible nightmare. I was in a dark room and was being asphyxiated, but suspended in the air at the same time. A ghoulish voice whispered in a mysterious language to me and suddenly I felt like I was burning inside and my skin was being peeled off me, the same spell Draco had used on me earlier in the evening. Just then, my eyes shot open and I sat up in my bed. I was breathing heavily and felt like my throat had been closed. My arms were also stining, and when I looked down at them to inspect what was causing me pain, two long, bloody gashes were running down my forearms. I felt feverish, and shouted for help. Within moments lights were on all around the room, Rose had come to my rescue first and tore back the drapes.

"Oh my god! Someone help me, we have to get her to the infirmary!"

The gashes began to burn, there was blood oozing out of them slowly, and I had started sweating. It felt as if my insides were literally burning up and every time I tried to scream, no sound would leave my lips. Then everything went black.

The next morning, I woke up groggily. It was around seven in the morning, classes didn't start for another hour and a half.

"I see you're up Miss Demario, how are you feeling?" The nurse's sweet voice made sound, but I was still half asleep and could not make out what she'd just asked me.

"What happened?" I asked. I tried to move my arms but they were bandaged up and felt heavy and numb.

"For some unknown reason, you were brought here in the middle of the night with horrendous wounds on both arms and kept repeating that you felt your insides were burning, unfortunately we have no explanation for this occurrence, but we have treated you as best we can and you'll be in top form once you take this medication." She smiled and handed me a glass filled with a bright green fluid.

"And what exactly is this for, Nurse?" I sniffed it and scrunched up my face, it smelled atrocious.

"Its to help your wounds heal better so that they do not scar -"

"Ah she is awake, how splendid". Dumbledore entered the infirmary at that moment and walked over to my bed.

"Sir, it appears she cannot recall what happened last night. She has healed very well, but unfortunately there will be some scarring."

Dumbledore simply nodded silently nd sat down onthe side of my bed. "My child, has this ever happened to you before?"

I felt like an idiot, I just stared at dumbledore without saying a word. "Y-yes", I muttered.

I remembered back to the time when a very evil girl named Margot and her friend Cecile had used their magic to pull my hair and scratch me. That night, I awoke with incredible pain on my head and my arms and face stung, as if fresh cuts had emerged all over my body. I had gone to my teacher and told her what Celine and Margot had done to me. The two girls were punished for their wrondoings and loathed me for years. I was much to afraid to blame Draco for this, it would be my funeral!

"Catherine, I would like to see you in my office after dinner tonight. You'll have had time to clear your head by then." Slowly, the old wizard stood and left the infirmary.

I frowned, wondering what he would want to talk to me about, and what he would say about my story ...
