I walk down the long hall. I see lockers aligned on the walls. I look at my schedule again. I forgot my locker number and combination and see my locker number is 238 and my combination is 27, 37, 35.

I glance at the blue lockers along the walls. Odd numbers on top, even on bottom. I finally find #238. I look at the combination lock ths t is built into the metal. I think to see if I remember how to do this.

Go right once and stop on 27.
Go left and pass your number then stop on 37 when you get to it the second time.
Go right again, stop on 35, and pull the lever.

I pull the lever but it doesn't open.

"Ow..." I say under my breath. A boy walks over and I think he sees me struggling to open my locker.

"Need some help?" The boy says. He looks about my age. Blonde hair and blue eyes. To be honest, I think he's kinda cute.

"Yeah, I guess I do." I tell him the combination as he spins the small lock. He pulls the lever and it opens swiftly.

"There you go."

"Thanks..... um... I'm Meredith." I put my hand out to shake his hand, but instead, he pulls me into a hug.

"Nice. My name is Luke. Who's your homeroom teacher? I know it's not the first day, but I don't pay attention to who is in my classes the first day..."

I look down at my schedule."Umm... Mr. Shay."

"Cool! Me too!" Luke holds out his hand. I'm assuming he wants a high five. I slap my palm against his.

"See you in class? He says.

I smile, blushing a little bit. "Yeah, see you there." I feel really good.

Ok that's enough science for me!

"Ok students, put away your science books and you are dismissed," Mrs. Valentine says. Thank the lord! I grab my stuff and push in my chair.

"But Mrs. Valentine, we have 10 minutes left of class." The nerd of the class, William Henson the third, just had to speak up!

"Oh, I now realize that we do have extra time. Thank you, Wilson! I guess since I have nothing else for you to do, I'll just assign you a homework booklet. You may work on it until the bell rings. Make sure you complete all questions on all 5 pages."

Ugh....
