Rosaline's POV
Ten minutes and I get to punch out for the night. These 16 hour shifts are going to kill me. I seriously hope HR gets their heads out if their asses and hires some more nurses for night shift. A night out with the girls is what the Doctor will order for the weekend. Well if I don't collapse before then.
I was about to ask the head ER nurse, Martha, if I could skip out early since a few of the girls from the next shift were already here; that's when we got a walk in. It never fails! I should have just stayed busy in the damn stock room.
Walking into the exam room I was caught off guard by a familiar face. A face I hadn't seen in over 6 years. But the smirk was exactly the same even though his face was slightly different. Guess that means he recognized me too.
Aside from the obvious laceration above his left eye, fat lip, and bruised jaw; I was no longer looking at the arrogant scrawny cocky Billy bad ass I remembered. He had filled out. A wide chest and brawd shoulders had taken place of what use to be a lanky bean pole. And from what i can see he's got some nice ink work going on, on his left arm.
The baby face was also missing. Now I was looking at a strong jaw line covered with a nicely trimmed beard and eyes that looked as deep and tormented as a caged animal that had been beaten. Wonder what happened to him after high school? All the football coaches, even at my school use to talk about how good of a QB he was and that he could make it pro if he would just lay off the booze."So, aside from the visible injuries, what brings you in tonight Mr. Gilbert? Any issues other than the few stitches that might be needed? Well and the MRI to check for a concussion. Anything else hurt... Ribs, back, knees?" I tried to keep it cool and professional. "Nope nothing else is goin on other than what ya see Roz." He told me told me with that signature smirk creeping back across his handsome face. Great he remembered I don't like being called Roz. I gave him my best professional smile and kept typing. When I was done all I had to do was record his vitals, give him some local anesthetic if he wanted it before the sutures, and I could go home ... Until Martha walked in. "Rosaline doc Marston wants you to do the sutures. He already put in the order for the MRI, so when he's all bandaged up take him to the X-ray unit and you can punch out when they are done with him. After that go home and get some sleep. Hopefully we don't have to see each other until Monday morning." She told me with a smile. "Oh and I left the next 50 shades of Grey book in your locker. If you liked the first two let's just say you'll love this one." That's last comment made we want to curl up in the corner and die!
When I turned to face Brantley I wasnt surprised at all. He had an amused grin and I could have sworn I heard him chuckle at me. I quickly changed the subject. "So what will it be big guy? Shot before stitches or are you gonna tough it out? Awww what happened to that smirk?" I know it wasn't professional but I couldn't help it.
