Chapter one: Pilot

The wind was extra warm today. The weather was not the best; clouds were grey, the streets were a little wet from the rain. But, the wind was warmer than it had been. It did not create the usual shivers. People were still the same though. They were just walking around doing their daily routines with smiles on their faces. I packed my book away and hid it in my shoulder bag. I grabbed my bag and got away from the bench that I had been sitting on for quite the time now. I liked the park. Everything was somehow more peaceful here. I found my iPod in my jacket pocket and unrolled the earphones. I plugged them in and the music flooded. I walked away from the peaceful area and headed home. The cars drove by slower than usual. Everything seemed to be slower today for some odd reason.

I took the steps to our front door in one small move. Dad’s car was here, that’s odd. I took a look at the silver Mercedes and frowned. Why was dad already home? I went inside and shut the door behind me with my foot. I took of my shoes one by one and hung my jacket next to mom’s old one. I stepped inside the living room, but there was no one to be found. I continued my search, but without success. I flinched as I heard laughter from upstairs. I quickly ran up the stairs and tried to discover where the laughter came from. I saw my brother’s door was slightly open, so I moved closer. I pushed it open and saw Liam sitting on the bed with Niall sitting on the chair in front of him. They both turned their glances to me for a short time and recognized me.

Liam sighed, clearly annoyed that I didn’t bother to knock. Niall gave me a smile making his blue eyes even bluer. He had his hands in his lap and he started fumbling with his fingers, knowing that Liam would start giving me a lesson on how to knock. Liam sighed once again as he got up from the edge of his bed and took a step towards me, crossing his arms over his chest. His eyebrows were frowned like they always were when he was getting angry.

“How many times have I told you to knock?!”

A rhetorical question, but my answer was a simple raise with my right eyebrow. I didn’t want to get into that ridicules discussion again. I studied his chest moving up and down a little faster, he was getting irritated by my presence so I continued to take a step into his room. His jaw tightened a bit and I couldn’t help, but smirk on the inside. He was so childish. Niall watched us both with a small grin on his face, clearly amused by how Liam could get angry at me that easily.

“Why is dad’s car here?”

Liam loosened his angry façade and let his arms slip down from his chest. His right hand grabbed something in his back pocket of his skinny black jeans. He showed me a pair of keys and judging from the smirk on Liam's face, I knew all too good why dad’s car was here.

“Did he let you borrow it again?”

Liams nod was enough answer and he put the keys back in his pocket.

“We’re going to a game later and your dad thought we should have a car to get there and back.”

I looked at Niall, who had joined the conversation and gave him a smile for his explanation. I turned my eyes back to Liam, waiting for me to leave. He hated, when I was interrupting. I just liked pissing him of.

“Who’s playing?” I asked Niall, wanting to see how far I could push it this time. I watched Liam exhale loudly, and his fits were knitting.

“Oh god Zoey,” Liam said, unable to hold his anger in any longer. I crossed my arms over my chest and waited for him to continue. “Can’t you just leave us alone?”
