Jade looked at herself in the mirror as she put on her earrings.

The tan from the honeymoon in Bali was still visible and the white colour of her sundress brought out the brown colour even more.

She had brushed her hair back in a loose braid.

"Hi beautiful!" Alec said coming into the room.

He was dressed in jeans and plain black shirt. But he managed to make the simple clothes look fabulous.

They were living in Jade's apartment in a few days till the construction of the new house was completed.

The new house that was at the moment being made at one of Jade's favourite places.

Near the lake.

Even now whenever Jade thought of the prospect of living in the beautiful house with the stunning view of the lake and the silence and peace she felt an army of butterflies fluttering in her stomach.

"Hello." She said turning to her husband.

Her husband. She had still not gotten tired of saying or thinking those words everytime she looked at Alec.

"I love the dress." Alec said as he walked up and placed a soft kiss on her back which was left bare by the dress.

She turned around to face him, "Now do you, really?"

"Yes Mrs Carter." Alec laughed and touched his lips to hers.

Just as the kiss was getting a little heated the door bell rang.

Alec groaned while Jade laughed moving away, "Can't we be late for dinner."

"Yes we can. But since it is being held at our own house...." She laughed and started going out of the room.

"But the kiss was just getting heated up." He whined following her out.

Jade chuckled again at his tone, "Didn't you have enough heat in Bali?"

"I can never have enough heat Mrs Carter... Never."

Jade smiled as her heart filled with love for her stupid, stubborn handsome husband.

They had invited their friends for dinner, to celebrate their homecoming.

She pulled open the door but not before Alec could sneak in another kiss.

Matt nervously stood out side the door to Jade's apartment.

This was the first time he was going to meet Jade ever since the wedding.

And to say that it was going to be difficult would be an understatement.

Suck it up, Matt!

He rang the bell and waited for someone to open it.

The door was pulled open and there stood Jade. Looking beautiful and tanned in a white summer dress.

"Hi Matt!" She exclaimed and hugged him.

Her scent enveloped him as he hugged her back.

It was difficult to see her, but the happiness that could be clearly seen on her face somehow made it better.

"You look lovely, Jade." He said once they moved away.

Jade took his hand and pulled him into the apartment, "Thanks! Now come in! You're the last one to arrive. Everyone is already here."

The living room was already filled with people with glasses in their hands.

Nicole was sitting Julia on the sofa as they talked. Julia had a glass of water in her hand while Nicole sipped her wine.

On the other side of the room Steve and Jason stood near the window chatting excitedly about something.

"Guys Matt is here!" Jade said.

A chorus of hi's and hello's rang out while Steve and Jason came to give him half hugs and pat him on his back.

"Matt you know everyone over here. Except.... Wait where is she?"

Just as Jade looked around for someone, a petite girl came out of the kitchen followed by Alec.

Alec grinned at Matt as soon as he saw him. After the wedding things had somehow become a little less awkward between them.

They carried a bottle of champagne and champagne flutes with them.

The girl who Matt didn't know was short, just till his shoulders, with chin length black hair and dark brown eyes.

She was dressed in a short electric blue dress and high sky scraping heels in the same colour.

There was something in the way she walked that reminded Matt of the pixies that they showed in movies.

"There she is. Come here." She pulled the girl by her hand and made her stand next to them. "Blake this is Matt. Matthew Damon. I told you about him."

"Of course. Nice to meet you." The girl gave a smile that was a little too big for her face, it brought out the dimples in her cheeks.

"And Matt this is Blake Hastings. My editor." Jade said.

"You're Blake Hastings?" Matt asked.

"The last time I checked." There was an amused look on Blake's face.

"It's just that I though you were a guy."

"Do I look like a guy?"

"Well no.... But you're name...." Matt stuttered.

"It's Blake. Is that a problem?" She raised an eyebrow.

"No.... I mean ofcourse not." He shook his head, "Why would it be?"

The girl might be short but she was as intimidating as a giant.

"That's good."

Jade clapped her hands once gleefully, "Well then why don't you'll get to know each other while I get you a drink, Matt."

Jade walked away to the kitchen to make a drink for Matt.

Alec followed her in, "I see what you're trying to do."

"What?" Jade tried to be nonchalant.

He laughed, "I know you very well Mrs Jade Carter. You're trying to patch them up."

"Was I too obvious?"

"No.... Very subtly done." Alec said sarcastically.

She laughed, "Well you see I think that they're perfect for each other so I'm just giving them a push in the right direction."

"Why do you think they're perfect for each other? They're completely different."

Jade walked up to him and placed a hand on his cheek, "I know. They're poles apart. That's why they're perfect."
