*Unexplained Noises*

"Run!" I shouted. And though I didn't see the other two behind me, I knew they heard, and they were obeying silently. Like I expected.

Because if we made any more noise than necessary, the zombies would notice, too.

Like the leaves crunching underneath our feet. The groaning surrounding us was nearing, so the groaners had clearly caught our sent, but they were slow... However, it'd cause the others, Grippers, the fast and smarter ones, to catch it too.

We had to be careful.

Kate's hand grabbed my shoulder, stopping me short. "Chloe; stop! There are several Cutters up there... They'll slice us to bits, and you know it." She whispered.

"Yes, that's true..." I answered. The Cutters were one of the most dangerous groups of zombies. They had blade arms... Or had sharpened what was left of their arms into blades. They were ruthless, as well. They only cared about who they could kill, and when they could kill them.

Max stopped just behind me, her breathing heavy from just having ran at least two miles. "I can't keep going like this," she heaved.

"We have to," Kate admitted. "Unless you want to get eaten alive. Or, unless we find a suitable place to stay that's actually defendable with three people. OR, still yet, if we find more survivors willing to help us."

"Bingo," I said. "There has to be more of us somewhere."

"Yes." Kate agreed. "We just have to find them."

"I wish we could find them sooner," Max took another deep breath after saying this.

"I know you both are tired," I glanced behind me as Max let out a third sigh. "But we have to go."

"Oh, no. You aren't moving." I heard a gun barrel click into place. It sounded like a shotgun or rifle. Something not one of all three of us could survive being shot by.

Well, we had gotten our wish. Survivors. Though, these didn't seem to want to help us.

Max glared into the forest, shielding her eyes from the sun with the flat of her hand, but nodded a "no," to Kate, which continued to me, and I sighed.

"Sorry," I mouthed to them both.

"I don't want to die," Kate mouthed back.

"You are surrounded." It was another male voice, and we heard footsteps all around us, from every direction. That meant there had to be four of them... Or maybe a group of groaners.

"Oh, shit!" We heard one yell, followed by a, 'plop.'

"Max, now!" I screamed, scrambling for the javelin that lsy at my feet.

Another gunshot, and a scream following it.

"Kate!" I looked behind me. She was okay.

"Max!?" Max had thrown her Javelin, and she was okay, too.

"Victoria! You hit Victoria, Warren!" The first male had screamed.

"Oh, god! Nathan, i'm so sorry!" The second yelled in response.

"Shut up, idiots!" I screamed towards the trees. "There are groaners coming!"

I motioned my two companions up the side of the hill, towards where the voices were coming from.

A male had an accomplice against the trunk of a tree, his elbow digging into his throat. They couldn't have been much older than us, if older at ALL.

"Nathan, don't!" We heard. It was another male voice. Was this an all boy group, except for whoever Victoria was?

This boy was short-haired, of course, with just a hint of brown as hair. He was wearing a jacket that hinted towards a former football player. There wasn't much else about him in particular, besides the fact that he was bulky, and that he had no weapon. Did he fight them... With his hands?

The boy he had yelled at, Nathan, I guess, had a curl like superman coming from his blonde-ish hair. He had a light brown leather jacket on, with regular blue jeans. He looked less strong than the unamed boy, but was apparently stronger than, 'Warren.'

The third male, Warren, apparently, looked more geeky than brawny. He had black curly short hair, and he wore a T-shirt with a happy face on it. He wore regular blue jeans as well, but there was a patch on the bottom left corner of them.

And the only female in the group, I'm taking her to be Victoria, happened to be blonde. The other thing she happened to be was shot in the leg, and she was sobbing against the trunk of another tree. Her leg was bleeding badly, and the three boys were too busy fighting, or trying to get them not to fight, to attend to it.

So I motioned to Kate.

"Go get her, Katie." I whispered.

Kate took a glance around, and then continued to Victoria, pulling the bag she had around her shoulder off and sitting it on the ground beside her as she crouched.

The blonde looked up at her with glassy eyes.

"Don't worry," Kate said. "I'm going to help you."

"It hurts," Victoria told her, another few teardrops rolling down the side of her face.

"I know, and it still will. I'm just going to try and help it." The golden haired girl told her, staring down at the wound. "Before it gets infected."

"Thank you..." The blonde passed out shortly after, I guess because of pain. Katie was our expert on medicines, healing, plants, and animals.

I was the expert on many... You would say... Worse things.

I was the expert on weapons, bullets, stealing, sneaking, lock picking, looting, and pickpocketing. I wouldn't dare do that to my companions, though.

Max is... An interesting person. Don't call me crazy, but... She can reverse time. She can tell Kate and I things before they happen, like when I'm picking a lock, she can tell me if my tools are going to break or not. That's why they've lasted this long, to be honest.

Once, she even told Kate she would die if she entered a certain building, because there was a cutter just inside the door. I went in and killed it with the javelin I'm still currently using, and she found useful medical supplies in the pharmacy. (It was a wal-mart.)

We weren't a perfect team, but we were a damn good one.

And now, we've met another group.

The leader has anger issues, the wimp is uber smart, the female's shot, and we don't even know the last's name.

Not to mention the endless horde of zombies.

This... Will be fun
