She disappeared without a trace. Not a letter or note. No clothes or food missing, only the presence of the cheerful, cat loving girl.
That was 5 years ago. And though she was believed to be dead, her friends knew she couldn't be. They thought she wasn't because they felt guilt, from the ones who rejected her to the ones who acted as if they didn't care. Some insulted her, but few actually talked to her and asked how she was doing.
They tried keeping the case open, but to no avail. A body showed up, and no one filed a missing persons report, so they assumed it was hers. They found the alleged killer and kidnapper, Gamzee Makara. They put him behind bars.
It's been 5 years and few still grieve. Her mother still cries herself to sleep, and can't get a job because she won't show up. Her sister supports the family now, working many jobs after dropping out of college. Her best friend Equius doesn't get out much, and he doesn't really talk to anyone. He tried to beat up many people, but his older brother bailed him out.
Let's not forget Karkat, who rejected her company on more than one occasion. He beats himself up everyday about how he treated her. Making fun of her typing style and calling her autistic. Yelling at her. He has to take antidepressants and his older brother has to monitor him to make sure he doesn't go to extremes and take his own life.
Terezi stopped grieving. Or at least she acts like it. Inside she stills longs to talk to her friend and roleplay with her, to cosplay with her, to hug her. She blames herself for ignoring Nepeta the week before she disappeared to spend time with Karkat.
That was until Nepeta showed up again.
Kind of.
