Karkat slammed the door on his car. He locked it, before straightening his suit. He began to walk into the church reluctantly.

"Hey Karkat." Terezi greeted at the door, handing him a pamphlet that was dedicated to the memorial.

He didn't bother to respond, he only shuffled inside and took a seat in the front.

After about 10 minutes of Karkats rapid texts to Gamzee, the memorial began.

"Today we remember Nepeta Leijon. From her cheerful attitude and..."

Karkat zoned out, thinking about the last day he saw her. It was raining and she was at his front door, and he let her in. He wrapped her up and got her hot cocoa. Her ginger hair was soaked.

They began watching a romcom, and at the end he and Nepeta looked at each other. She went in for a kiss, just as Terezi opened the door finding her boyfriend and best friend sharing a kiss. Nepeta looked at Terezi and for a moment everything was silent, then Terezi was yelling and Nepeta ran out the backdoor.

Karkat remembered her soft lips, and couldn't help but tear up. That girl who was his best friend, dead. Was it his fault? He would never know.

He felt a hand on his shoulder. He looked up, seeing Kanaya. She had a sympathetic look on her face.

She sat down beside him, wrapping her arms around him while he cried on her shoulder. She rubbed his back, telling him "Its okay," into his ear.

He pulled away and wiped his face on his sleeve. "Thanks," He whispered before turning to the memorial.

"And now we have Meulin Leijon, who will be speaking about Nepeta." The priest gave his microphone to a long haired ginger girl, who was wearing a black dress with green accents.

"Thank you. We will all miss Nepeta. Today is the 5 year anniversary of her death. She was such a good sister, and I would trade anything to have her back." She cast a glare towards Karkat. "But now she is gone, because someone broke her heart and made her walk home in the rain."

Karkat was surprised, before he growled at her.

"If you had let her down easy, or maybe walked her home, she could be here now and the is while memorial wouldn't have to happen! This, Karkat Vantas, is all your fault. Screw you, Karkat. Say hi to Satan for me!" She yelled at the top of her lungs. Her mother and the priest had to grab her and take her away, while eyes turned to Karkat's crying and angry form.

Karkat got up and stormed out the big double doors. He fished the car keys out of his pocket, unlocked his car, and drove off.

When Karkat arrived home, he took the liquor from his father's cabinet before he locked himself in his room.

He sat on the floor, taking gulps of the liquor. If he hadn't lost a close friend to smoking, he would be doing that too.

He could hear his older brother and father banging at his door, but he didn't care. When he looked back at the bottle, it was gone. He groaned. He wasn't drunk enough yet.

Maybe he could sneak out his window and buy some? It seemed like a good idea. Yeah, he'll do that.

He first changed into a t-shirt and some shorts. He then crawled into his bed and opened his window. He opened it, before sticking his head through. Then followed the rest of his body.

He landed on someone. "Oh, so you get to get drunk today? Not fair!"

He looked up to see Vriska's smirking face. "What are you doin'?" He slurred as she wrapped his arm around her neck.

"We got a meeting to attend."

Confused, Karkat kept asking what meeting they were going to. He then gave up,before asking for some beer.

"Not unless you get me some, and you have to pay."

He agreed. They stopped at a bar and bought two beers, conveniently forgetting to tell them they were 19.

They continued onward, Vriska sipping her beer carefully while Karkat jugged his down.

They walked for a while, Vriska no longer supporting Karkat. He fell a couple times, but Vriska refused to help him.

They finally reached a tall apartment building. "Okay, tell me why we are here." Karkat growled, before turning and throwing up in the bushes.

"We're here because Nepeta's not dead," Vriska grinned. "and we're going to find her."
