I never thought I would be a pawn in our general’s eyes. I’d have to be sacrificed in the battlefield, in other words, placed in the front lines destined to die. There is ninety percent chance I’ll never be able to live again. God bless his soul he knows what he’s doing. If I’ll die, I promise to haunt his dreams of victory and turn them into nightmares of defeat. I really appreciate this task. In the corner of my eye, I see the shiny tips of bullets scintillate into the air heading towards me. I was done for. –From The Laments Of A Warrior by Unknown

I could say that I am living a Spartan lifestyle. Simple. Boring. Disciplined, Strict and Bland. I don’t think I can choose what I want to wear for Sundays anymore. I can’t even wear knee high shorts, let alone sports shorts. There’s no time for those anymore. The second I heard the announcement, I realized that all of our lives would be changed forever.

“All EDSOR students, we have received word from Radio WarZone 9457 that Militicia has conquered the whole of the archipelago. They will be heading to the Capital’s Palace to overthrow the government and take over the whole country. All students, please proceed to the gymnasium immediately”, the PA system blared out in full loud speaker mode.

Panic started to grip the entire class 2-A as students took out their phones and started yelling commands to their parents or guardians. What a shame. I left my phone at home again and my parents were out of the country. Let me begin by explaining you the name of my school. This used to be Xavier school, an exclusive school for Chinese boys but because of the Militician invasions, ICA, Poveda and La Salle have teamed up together with Xavier to support each other and protect the democracy that the 1989 Revolution sparked. This union was signed twenty years ago when the Militician army was expanding their way through Asia. Rumor has it that Militician army was composed of terrorists and world leaders to destroy and conquer the world.

I guess they’re only conquering our little archipelago in a strategic location for fun.

“Jesse, carry M-17 with you. We’ll have to make a run for the gym before a stampede forms”, says my co-defense captain Trevor. He belonged to the La Salle camp and obviously loved the color green. He was sporting a green jacket with no design since his camp didn’t allow any other obstructions to battle. I was a defense captain in training and I am very proud to say I am the only woman in the mock army. We have a mock army to determine who will be sent to battle in the real world.

Beyond the rainbow colored gates of green, red, blue and yellow is the battlefield itself. We were placed in this school for military training only. Our main dormitories are in Poveda. The teaching grounds are in Xavier, the largest of all camps. The masonry and food supplies come from the ICA camp, my camp. Most of the first aid supplies and books come from the La Salle camp.

Trevor looked so energetic. I bet he is a fan of the PC games Prototype and Resident Evil. Between us two, he’s usually the good one in enforcing his rule to our fellow coworkers. I guess I am only good in strategy but that’s only because I play chess. I don’t know why I can see through an opponent’s weakness and have a faint idea of what he would do next in combat.

We both raised our hands to our frantic Science teacher and she nodded as we gestured a respectful salute position as we rushed out of the classroom, carrying our long guns. Heh. Those real guns we keep in the armory are definitely not allowed for usage in school. The ones we have fire blanks and are only used during training. I suggested using Nerf guns but they make training seem like child's play, something that the teachers would like to avoid. Trevor suggested Airsoft but that freaked out Ms Militante, the camp leader of Xavier, big time.

I love running with my military green cap. It has splotches of light green, dark green and yellow. This gives me so much prestige and happiness. I got this cap ever sincemI was recruited in the EDSOR CADET, a pre-requisite to entering War Council (if you were interested in politics and hardcore cursing at people)
