BUZZ!!!BUZZ!!!
I groaned as I slammed my hand on my cheap alarm clock. This is it, the first day of my senior year. I reluctantly got out of my bed, it was actually my bed from when I was 7, the bed I slept in the night my mother died. It was small and cramped but it smelled of her, because of the blanket she used to cuddle up with me in it with her. I quickly got up and took a shower and got dressed in a too-large black hoodie and black skinny jeans with my old black converse. I put my curly light purple hair up in a ponytail and rush downstairs. It reeks of alcohol and drugs everywhere, but especially in the living room where my so-called father is currently passed out with bottles of whiskey around him. I walk into the kitchen and make him scrambled eggs and bacon. I grab an apple and my bag and rush out the door before he wakes up. I slow down when I'm around the block and think of how this year will turn out. I will stay in the shadows and not make a fuss all year and just get by until I graduate and I can leave this town and my father. As I arrive at school I walk down the hall to my locker and listen to the conversations around me. The jocks are talking about the homecoming game this Friday. The cheerleaders about makeup and prom. Which is so stupid since prom is months away. The nerds about math and books. The geeks about video games. And last but not least the bad kids. They are the ones everyone is afraid of because they always get in trouble. As I turn the corner I run into a wall. As I anticipate the concrete floors, I'm met with large arms catching my waist. I wince from the pressure on the bruises and look up. In front of me is an unfamiliar man with bright green eyes.
"Are you alright?" The mysterious man asks me.
"Huh? Oh, y-yeah, I'm uh fine!" I blurted out surprised at who he is.
He quickly lets go of me and walks down the hall. I sigh as I continue to my locker.
As I'm getting my stuff, my best friend, Kai, comes up and ruffles my hair.
"Hey Phi! How was your summer?" Kai questioned. You see my name is Serephina, but when we were little he couldn't pronounce my name so he just called me Phi, and it stuck. He's the only one that stuck by me when my mom died because she was a second mother to Kai, just like how his mother is my second one.
"Kai, nothing will change so I don't know why you continue to ask that ridiculous question every year." I respond as we walk to home room.
"Because Phi, I care about you but I know how your dad is, I just want you to be okay."
I smile softly at him and say,"Well Kai, thank you but it won't change till graduation."
"But it's so far away!!" He responds back childishly.
I just smile and walk into the room. I'm instantly hit with a mysterious man with green eyes. He's my home room teacher apparently.
"It's nice to see some of my students can be early. Please take a seat anywhere and wait for the bell." He says.
Kai and I take a seat in the front by the windows. I'm the closest to the windows. As students start piling in, Mr. Mystery stands up and starts introductions.
"Class, my name is Mr. Daniels, and I'll be your home room teacher this year. Now I want to go around the room and give you all a chance to introduce yourselves while I take roll. Please start Miss." He says as he points at me.
"Um..."
He interrupts me and tells me to stand up. I do so grudgingly.
"My name is Serephina Lovette." I say quickly then sit back down.
"It's lovely to meet you Miss Lovette. Next." He says with a smile then points to Kai.
"Kai Winters and call her Phi." He says as he points at me. I quickly pull Kai's arm down in embarrassment. Kai just laughs and the introductions continue.
Then home room officially starts.
"Psst. Psst."
"What Kai?" I say to the annoying blonde who's currently poking me while I read Harry Potter.
"Well, I was wondering if you want some Skittles but I guess..." I quickly grab the Skittles from him and chuck them in my mouth.
"So I'm guessing that's a yes?" He says while chuckling." No breakfast, I'm guessing?"
I nod and put my head down and continue reading when I notice Mr. Daniels piercing green eyes on my one light brown ones.A/N:
I know it's a little weird and probably really bad but I will come back and edit. Please tell me if I misspelled and give me suggestions.
