Vincent took a long drag from his cigarette, letting the smoke overwhelm his senses. Kids ran around the apartment, screaming and laughing a little bit too obnoxiously for Vincent's liking. The beginning of summer was the worst. But, kids will be kids. He just wanted to smoke his cigarette in peace. But, right now, that was just a fantasy.

The sickening sounds coming from his apartment made him grit his teeth to keep from screaming himself. He could hear the creaking of his bed springs and the banging of the headboard as Gumi's antics continued. This was just some stupid rebellion against her father; a pretty dumb one. Selling her body to men just to show that she could be wanted.

He shook his head in disappointment. "Such a shame."

"That's the truth," a small, sweet western voice said to Vincent's right. "I hope this is just a phase."

"I hope so too, Min. But, sadly, I have a feeling this will go on for awhile." He turned to look at his young friend, who smiled sadly at him. Her short, wavy brown hair blew in the hot, dry wind as they stood outside his apartment.

She crinkles her nose as some of Vincent's cigarette smoke blew her way. "How can you stand those things?"

"I just can," he retorted as he drew in another long drag of the death stick. "It's my stress reliever."

Minnie snorted and squinted at him. "Fine, but if you die and have no lungs in you grave, just remember that I tried to stop you."

"I'll remember that," Vincent chuckled. "So, what are you going to put on my tombstone?"

Minnie out a finger to her chin and hummed in thought. "Hmm...I think I'll put 'Here Lies Vincent Myers, The Man That Dies From Tar Lungs.'"

"Tar lungs?" Vincent threw his cigarette on the ground and put it out with his foot. Minnie nodded as she watched him, brown eyes flashing with amusement.

"Oh, yeah," Minnie said with a smile. "It's pretty common now days."

Vincent looked at her with narrowed eyes. "You can be a bitch sometimes, you know that?"

"I know," Minnie sighed and smiled proudly.

A loud scream from inside caused the two of them to pause. Minnie grew uncomfortable and moved closet to Vincent, who grabbed her and held her tightly. He didn't think this would've bothered her, but he must have been wrong. There was a lot of things he still didn't know about his young friend.

"Should we go in there?" Minnie looked at the entrance to the small apartment and raised an eyebrow. Vincent smoothed down her soft hair and hugged her tightly.

"No, let's leave them be. They should be done soon. They've been at it for nearly an hour."

Minnie's eyes grew wide in amazement. "Is that even possible?!"

"Not for me," Vincent said slyly. Minnie pulled away from him and looked at him in disgust.

"Too much information, Vince."

"You're the one who asked, baby girl, not me."

"I regret even opening my mouth."
