Eleanor Woods Point of ViewWednesday, January 2, 1941
"Eleanor, you have to go!" Rose exclaimed to me, while I took the rollers out of my blonde hair.
"I don't even see the point of going, Rose." I sighed. Rose McCallister was my best friend, but she wasn't my very best friend at the moment, because she was trying to convince me to go to some dumb party for soldiers going away for war. Rose was a nurse for the soldiers, and since I didn't have any plans for this Saturday, which was when the party was, she was begging me to go with her.
"Eleanor," Rose sighed dramatically, and placed her hands on my shoulders.
"Do you not realize how many hot men, not just men, but soldiers will be there?" Rose looked at me with a serious face. I laughed at her seriousness.
"Yes, I do," I chuckled, and shrugged her hands off of my shoulders. "But, I'm not looking for hot men, not just men, but soldiers." I chuckled, putting up the hair rollers in their usual spot that I put them in when I'm not using them.
I walked to the kitchen to take out the cherry pie I had fixed for myself out of the oven. "Stop being so stubborn, El, and just go with me." Rose followed behind me like a little lost puppy dog following it's owner.
"I don't even have a dress to wear." I said, trying to come up with an excuse not to go.
"If that's the case, be ready at nine A.M. sharp tomorrow, because we're going to buy a pretty dress for you!" Rose excitedly clapped her hands. "I absolutely cannot wait-, oh my goodness," Rose stopped herself, as if she just realized something. "This is fate, El, you're going to meet your soul mate, oh my gosh," You could almost see the hearts in Rose's eyes when she said that.
"Yeah, it's definitely fate." I sarcastically said, rolling my eyes, while taking two plates out of the cabinet. "Do you want pie?" I offered Rose.
"Well, of course, I'll always take a piece of your famous cherry pie," Rose smiled at me, and sat down at the table. "The famous cherry pie that your soul mate, the one you'll meet this weekend, will absolutely love." Rose winked at me.
"Oh my goodness, enough talk about my future soul mate, Rose, it's not gonna happen," I blushed, cutting two pieces out of the cherry pie.
"Okay, but I'm just giving you a heads up on your future." Rose said, while giggling and walking over to take her plate with her piece of pie placed on it. "Marshall is so adorable," Rose blushed, while talking about her boyfriend.
Marshall Marsden was apart of the Air Force army, and they have been together for about six months now. "He sent me flowers this morning with a sweet letter." She giggled, taking a bite out of her pie. She let out a sigh of awe as she chewed the piece of pie.
"You two are so adorable." I said, taking a seat across from her at the round, brown table that sat in the kitchen by the sun porch. I thought it would be nice and beautiful to watch the sun rise when I wake up every morning and sip on coffee.
"He's the adorable one." She said, smiling at me. I smiled back at her, and we ate our cherry pie in silence.

"This dress would look absolutely gorgeous on you, Eleanor," Rose exclaimed as she held up a dress that was the most gorgeous dress, in my opinion, that you'd ever see. "You would stand out so well in the crowd!" Rose shoved the dress in my arms as I sighed at her aggressiveness.
"I really don't want to stand out, Rose." I chuckled nervously as I checked out the beautiful dress that laid in my hands.
The dress was a black and white leopard top that was combined with a turquoise skirt, that reached just a couple inches below my knee. A turquoise belt was tied around the skirt to keep the shirt and skirt together.
