Chapter one:
It's not even noon and I want to go home. If these girls behind me say "OMG" 1 more time I'm going to snap. God.
I hate school. Hate people. I Hate everything that has any kind of Socializing involved.
"Abigail, what is the 3 main reasons water is disappearing quickly on this fragile earth"
Mr. Gwarfder asked.
"I don't know sir" ; I mumbled "I couldn't care less" I said under my breath.
"What was that Abigail? I believe that you are barley passing my class"
he said with a soft tone. "I strongly suggest you PAY ATTENTION" he shouted that time.
I rolled my eyes and by the time I turned around the bell rang and the rest of the class was already out.
I grabbed my books and tried to fit in the the extras that were finishing writing the homework down. I obviously was trying to ignore the fact that Sir was trying to talk to me but just as I got up he called my name.
"Abigail, I am very concerned about you, you haven't been participating at all and have the lowest average In the class"
I didn't say anything.
"Well?" He said As if he was starting to get annoyed.
"I just don't have time to learn about stuff I don't even care about" I said quickly hoping he would believe this lie.
"We'll I'm sorry you feel that way, but this is the curriculum and I have no choice but to teach it so you have have no choice but to learn it"
"I have to go. I'm going to be late"
"For what?" Sir said
"For reality" I said and started to run before he asked any questions.
CHAPTER 2
I look at my watch, 12:46pm, "I'm late, I'm late" I thought as I'm sprinting to my bike.
I am running in the opposite direction of everyone making it 10 times harder to get out of this hell hole.
As I turn the corner I see Ashley, Amanda, and Meghan- the meanest of them all- laughing at some girl who appears to have a new really bad hair cut. Poor girl is probably just a freshmen.
Being in the 12th grade I've learned to stay away from them. All they do is make you feel like some worthless piece of shit.
"Hey Abigail" Meghan says in a voice that I questioned.
"Where are you heading, you look in a rush" Ashley said as if she really didn't care
"I'm going....." I thought of an excuse that wouldn't seem as lame as where I am actually going.
"..... To the mall" I said in totally panic.
"Gtg bye" I ran like hell.
I didn't even bother looking at their faces. I finally reached the front doors and without hesitation, I went to a place way worse then school, reality.
CHAPTER 3
I'm pedalling so fast my feet feel numb. i look to my left and pull in this dump I call home. Empty beer bottles, garbage, burnt cigarettes. Weeds and uncut grass fill the cracks at the side of the house.
I drop my bike without a second to hesitate. I run in the house hearing some screams. My mom sometimes just breaks out into tears. She doesn't do much since my dad left her for some skank. That probably is more dirty then my bathroom floor. We don't need him. Never did, never will.
"Abigail, come, come child mommy needs some more Gin. I'm sick of vodka" she said pretending to be half sober
"I can't mom, my shift starts at 1:30 it's already 1:15 I have to go, the land lord said if we don't pay our rent we have to move." I said as calm as possible
She is now passed out.
I give her a kiss on her head.
Got my uniform on.
And left.
CHAPTER 4
"Two diets, a quarter pounder and a side of fries for table 4" I yelled.
"Abigail, how are you today" said the sweet old manager.
She is probably one of the only people I can trust in this world.
"Okay I guess" I said trying to be a happy as possible.
"Then why the long face ?" She said as if she knew.
"No reason just.... Tired" I said while trying to force out a yawn.
"You know you don't have to take off time at school to work. You can take just night shifts if you want" she said firmly but sweet.
"I can't Jane. I wish I could, but if I don't take these extra hours then we will be forced to live on the streets." I said holding back the tears that have been trying to burst out for years.
She frowned, wishing she could help but obviously could not.
I was getting 2 drinks when I spilt a big bottle full of ketchup on me. It just happened to be the glorious moment when Ashley, Amanda and Meghan showed up and broke into laughter.
"So much for the mall" Ashley said taunting me.
They all start laughing until the door opens and a group of guys walk in.
"Omg it's jake" Meghan said as if she's trying to be chill.
"Hey jake" said says as her fingers play with her hair.
"Hey Meghan, what up" he Blurts out.
I roll my eyes.
For those who don't know jake he is the cutest, nicest, hottest person in the world.
In other words. Me and him will NEVER be a couple. As much as I love him.
"Hey Abigail, how are you" Noah says
Oh yeah, Noah is the other person I can trust. He's the best. He's been by my side for so many years. Ever since I can remember.
"Pretty good" I said trying to look at jake over his shoulder.
"Oh that's good" he says and walks away.
"Prom is coming up" says Meghan
"Yeah yeah I know" jake says as if he doesn't even care.
Jake turns his head and as I look up he's looking at me.
In the eyes.
Oh those big brown eyes.
Wow.
