Chapter 1
I twist my ring around my finger. The cold bathroom floor against my thighs make me more anxious. How can I tell Peeta? I'll just have to get up the courage and just say it. The door to our new, rebuilt house in District 12, opens. I hear Peeta's footsteps come toward the bathroom door. He knocks and calls, "Katniss, you okay in there?"
My throat goes dry. I can't answer. I stand up turn the knob slowly and step out of the bathroom. I make my way to The bed and begin to feel the tears come. I have to tell him. Now. Without saying anything, I wrap my arms around his neck. We stand there for a while, then he moves away and looks into my eyes." No, really? Your pregnant?"
How did he know without me saying anything? Then I know. It's Peeta. I any hide anything from Peeta.
"Who should we tell first" I ask, my throat still scratchy from crying.
"Your mother would want to know. Maybe we should even contact Gale in District 2" I can't believe it this is the first time he's mentioned Gale since our wedding 2 years ago.
"Well then let's go tell my mother,". We walk, hand in hand, to my old house before the Games. I knock on the door and my mother comes to the door, looking as tired as usual.
"Hello Katniss, Hello Peeta, want to come in?"
"Hello, Mrs. Everdeen"
"What can I help you with?"
" Mom, Grandma-"
"WHAT? You're pregnant?"
"Can you believe it?" Peeta adds in, " I'm going to be a father!" We sit there just smiling at everyone with everyone smiling back at me
When we get home it really dawns on Peeta what is going on. "How are we supposed to take care of this living thing. This person. Half of you, half of me. We have a LIVING PERSON. Our little person. How long has it been since we found out?"
"About an hour?"
"So still about nine months?" He's beginning to seem worried " How are we supposed take of this for nine months?"
"Peeta, lets just call Gale" I dial District 2 and ask to talk to Gale Hawthorne
"Hello?"
"Gale, how's 2?"
"Fine. I've got some news for you."
"Me too. You first"
"Okay, we'll you know about Hemlock". Yes, I did. Gale and Hemlock had gotten married a couple of months after Peeta and I. She has red hair and looks rather young for her age. Maybe what Prim might have looked like now. "Well, she's pregnant, with a girl, and we want to name her Primrose Everdeen Hawthorne,"
