Plot 4:

Gist of it?: a a guy works in a laboratory, where scientists like him perform tests on live human subjects in secret, all in the name of science. he's assigned to one subject who's a frail and weak girl, yet always tries to be positive. this begins to affect him and how he sees the world. then she dies and the guy becomes isolated from the world for a long time; during that time, a huge war breaks out, "earth" becomes divided, and a new saga begins. one day, a young "hero/adventurer" stumbles upon him in his vast and huge library of solitude. then man tells his story to the young adventurer, in hopes of carrying that same hope and brightness he failed to save.

"So tell me, subject #291, how are you feeling today?

"Pleasant!"

"How so?"

"It just feels like one of those days! Hehe!"

"I see..."

"...Hey. Do you think...we'll ever see each other if we were to reincarnate?"

"I'm sure we will."

"I can't wait then!"

Silence stood between us, as she looked away from me. I stared at the ground, processing what she had just said.

"L- subject #291, what do you mean by this...?"

Her head began to heave up and down, as soft whimpers turned to sobs.

"I-I-I-I heard them...I heard them read off the list of the dead...My n-name was t-there...they said it so casually." She brought her hands up to her face, covering it as she cried.

"Impossible! That shouldn't be! You have so much more time to live-- I must-- this is-!" I sped away, slamming the door shut as I stormed out of the room. My pace quickened, as I realized it became a full out dash to the test results lab and data control placement center.

"What is this?!" I slammed my hand on the desk of my supervisor.

"What is what," he replied calmly, adjusting his glasses as he glanced up at me.

"You know what I mean!"

"I don't understand what you're talking about Charles! Explain what's going on with you right now! You can't just come bursting into my office demanding an explanation for something I don't know about at all!"

I took a deep breath, clenching my fists tightly as I struggled to remain calm. With shaking hands, I pointed out of the office door, to where her room was.

"That. Explain. They said she was going to die soon. What's going on. I want to know. I want answers. Quickly."

Jager rubbed his temples, closing his eyes for a very long time to break the news to him. Slowly. And as painless as possible.

"Subject #291 has been diagnosed with the worst possible disease we've come across, and with no current cure, she's as good as dead in less than 3 da-"

Suddenly, the alarm on my watch went off. I looked at it, to only see the worst case scenario to happen.

Her heartbeat was shown on my watch, picking up pace too quickly for her own body's system to regulate and calm down. I rushed out of my supervisor's office, down the hall, and into her room, pushing past the crowd of doctors.

"Someone help her! Please! I beg you!" I shook a nearby doctor's arm, but she pulled back, a grim look on her face. Another doctor came by to pat me on the back and comfort me.

"Look bud, I know how it feels to get attached to a subject to then lose them, but hey, they're always replaceable! So cheer up! We'll get you a new one! Besides, you've made quite the discovery with this disease here."
