CHAPTER 1

SOPHIE'S POV

Currently I'm sitting in my Brother Eric's car on my way to the airport. I'm very happy but nervous at the same time. I've never been away from my family for so long. My mum and Eric are way too overprotective of me but I can't blame them. Especially of what has happened with my past. That is the most important reason that I'm scared of leaving this safe environment my family has created for me, but I know I can't stay like this forever. I know that they can't be here for me all the time I need them so I need to be strong to take care of myself and this is a new start and a new life.

"We're here" my thoughts were interrupted by Eric announcing that we've reached the airport. I stepped out of the car so did my mom and Eric. I was carrying my small backpack while Eric took out my entire luggage from the trunk. We all made our way to the entrance gate. After doing all the check in stuff we made our way towards the airport seats. There was still an hour time for the flight to take off.

"You scared cupcake?" Eric said noticing my nervousness.

"To be honest... yeah. This is the first time I'll be away from you both" I said almost shaking with nervousness.

"Don't worry sweetie, you'll do amazing there I know how much you dreamed of this and finally your gonna live your dream. I know I was not in favor of this before but if this is what you want then I'm there to support you" my mum said rubbing my back trying to calm me. I was happy that she accepted it I didn't want to go and live my life while my mum is here worrying about me. But hey that's what mum's do; they always worry about you no matter where you are or how you are.

My thoughts were interrupted by the announcement saying that passengers are requested to board the flight. I stood up and took a deep breath. I turned to see my mum and brother standing there. My mum almost on the verge of tearing up and Eric stood by her side with a proud look on his face. I hugged my mum with my special Sophie hugs.

"Thank you so much mom, I love you" I whispered in her ear and kissed her cheek.

"I love you to baby girl" she said letting me go and giving a kiss on my forehead. "Please take care of yourself". I nodded my head giving her a reassurance smile.

I turned towards Eric and practically jumped in his open arms. Eric was not just my brother but also my best friend and a father to me. He was my guardian and I never trusted any guy other than Eric. "Take care kiddo and please don't get into trouble" he said the last part with a playful tone.

"I'll try my best but no promises" I said with a smirk.

"Please take care of my mum and don't worry about me, I'll be fine there" I said giving him a quick peck on the cheek.

"I will cupcake, don't worry about anything here" he said and kissed my temple. Again there was announcement about boarding the flight.

"Well I better get going now" I said and picked my backpack from the chair and made my way to the boarding gate. "See you guys after 4 years" I said and walked further to the lady at the desk next to the gate, gave her my boarding pass. She smiled and returned it to me. Before making my way inside I turned around and waved at my family and the waved back. I took a deep breath and made my way inside the tunnel and the plane.

I searched for my seat and thanks to Eric he bought me first class ticket so I don't have to sit on those uncomfortable seats of second class for rest of the flight. Luckily I got a window seat. I kept my backpack in the cabinet above and took the seat starring out of the window. 'Oh how much I'm gonna miss this place'. I thought to myself, even though I was not born in Mumbai I've lived 13 years of my life here. All my friends and family were here; all my memories were of this place.
