Hannah's POV

My father's gaze softened.
"Hannah...I didn't-" "No... It's my fault. There's a reason my dad left.....I'm that reason." I sniffled.

I ran into the forest, ignoring everyone's calls. My real dad was a prick, to me anyway, but he loved my mother. He always made her happy.

One day, he slapped me, right when my mom came through the door, coming home from work early. She didn't even think twice before she divorced him. After that day, she wasn't as cheerful and she didn't have the joy in her eyes like before.

I blamed myself for it. For taking her happiness away. But once she married Chris, the sparkle in her eyes returned. I was so happy whenever he made her smile. A genuine smile. I didn't want to take that happiness away too.

I sat on a stump...and started crying. I heard a twig snap and looked up. It was the only other girl from camp. She had blonde hair, blue eyes, and was wearing a pair of boots with shorts, a white T-shirt, and a red and black flannel.

"I'm sorry...are you ok?" She sat down beside me and I hugged her. "I apologize, I usually tell my mom my problems....if I tell you, will you keep it a secret?" "Sure Hannah. Bye the way I'm Kris." I smiled.

She seems....cool.
