CHAPTER 1

“Hello?”

“Miss McStanley?”

“Yes, this is she.”

“I am Mr. Dobbson, the producer of The Hunger Games TV series. Your mane has been picked at a random selection to participate in our show. Your manager tells me you’re available.” No I’m not.

“I’m sorry, there must’ve been a mistake. I’m currently filming Mary.”

“Yes, I’m very aware. I’ve talked to the director as well and he, too, tells me you’re available.” I can hear the smugness in his voice and I can imagine the satisfied smile on his face, even though he’s probably miles away from me.

This is bad, really bad. It means they don’t want me for Mary anymore, and they’re giving me this show to make it up to me. It’s still tempting though.

“Well, in that case, I guess I’m available to take part in your show.”

“That’s wonderful Miss McStanley!”

“I would like to know the details though.”

“Of course. The show is based on the bestselling novel by Suzanne Collins and the movie as well.” Great Jess! You’re gonna advertise a book. Way to go… “You will be taken for a few months to a specially designed place that will represent Panem and the Districts. You will be randomly selected a District when we arrive there.” Holy crap, a few MONTHS?! That will push back the release of Mary for at least half a year. “Then, after you spend some time there, the Reaping will take place, the Games will begin and in the end you’ll return home. And that’s all!” He is so cheerful, it’s almost annoying. And he still didn’t tell me everything, because it’s never that simple in the showbiz world.

“Don’t I need to sign a contract or something?”

“Of course Miss McStanley. The official signing will take place on the plane ride to Panem. This conversation is the unofficial signing.”

“Oh.” Is all I can manage to say. They’re recording our conversation. Wonderful! That means that I can’t pull out now. Because I’ve already agreed to go.

“Lovely Miss McStnley. You’ll be meeting with us in a week at the airport. Read the books, watch the movie and goodbye. It was lovely talking to you Jessic McStanley.”

“But-“

Great. I only have one week to film as much of Mary as I can, only one week to say goodbye to everyone, and one week to document myself on The Hunger Games.

Better download the movie, I guess.
