Chapter Two

Aubree's POV

"Dad no!", I scream shakily before a whip forces me to the cold hard floor. His eyes are raging behind stormy irises that always turn ice cold in a heartbeat. "Please!", I moan in pain before the room goes black. I fall into the darkness my fathers vengeful grasp brought onto me and float through unconsciousness.

A sharp pain shoots through my entire body when I sit up hesitantly in my tiny room. Around me there is one cabinet where my clothes are held and beneath me there is polished wooden flooring. I don't have a bed or anything worth my time. "Aubree get off your fat ass and come to these chores!", My dad screams from the bottom of the stairs. I stand as fast as my injured body will allow and limp down the carpeted stairs, wincing with each step.

My body moans in complaint, but I force myself to move and suffer the consequences. A list is shoved into my hand when I reach my dad and I scan the page quickly.

CHORES

Wash,dry, and put away dishes

Cook Breakfast

Sweep and mop floor around entire house

Make Lunch

Vacuum all carpeting

Dust everywhere

Clean bathrooms

Take out trash.... And many more

I reach into my pocket and glance at the picture in my hand. A cold breeze flows into the room and I feel that someone else is looking at the other half. The half that was torn from the picture of me wrapped in a pink blanket at birth smiling widely. The feeling clings to my shivering body like permanent glue, and I feel a girls company. I gasp loudly into the silent air, I have a twin.

Her image shows in the dirty dishwater and I jump back in surprise. Her hair is blonde, like mine used to be, and she has no piercings unlike me, but other than that we look exactly the same. I look back into the dirty water and realize that she has disapeared.

I shake the thoughts from my mind before frantically trying to finish the dishes. Dad will literally kill me if I'm late one more time! I place the last dish in the cuboard above my head, and drain the water quickly. "Leave him now!", somebody screams into my mind. I squeeze my eyes shut to see my sister clenching her fists tightly, and muttering to me.

"Where the Hell is my food Aubree?", my father demands angrily, slmming his fist onto the table he sits at. I tremble in fear and mumble "Almost done". He stands and slams me into the wall with so much force that my back crack sickingly. "Well you better be done soon!", he spits angrily into my face while the tears escape my eyes. I nod weakly and he pushes me once more before stomping back to his seat.

I instinctively sprint to the door and run from him. I run from the man that created me, the man that will destroy me if I don't go. He has a strong hatred for me that I don't plan on staying any longer to learn more about. I look up at the moon and see a girl resembling me. My legs pound harder while connecting with the dirt below me, and I run to her.

I have no idea where I'm going, but I have to find her. Suddenly my body collapses on the freezing ground. I have been running for too long, it's been atleast three hours. I let my body fall into a deep sleep and see nothing but pitch black darkness behind my eyelids for the rest of the night.
