The pair woke up with the sun high over their heads. They heard the bird pokemon chirping away and the buzz of the bug pokemon. The forest was filled with the lovely sound of wild pokemon. Who wouldn’t enjoy waking up to this every morning.
“Morning,” Melody said as she stretched her arms. One downfall to being a trainer is that you slept on the hard ground more times than you could count.
“Good morning.” Blake replied with a smile “What would you like for breakfast?”
“Anything sounds good.” Melody replied.
“Well I have an apple or some granola bars. I need to stop at a pokemart. I am getting low on supplies. I should make a list.” Blake continued on.
“A granola bar sounds fine.” she said.
As they got ready for the day Melody’s excitement started to bubble up. She was really excited to have the chance to be taught how to catch a wild pokemon. She wondered what pokemon she would catch. There are a lot of bug pokemon here. Maybe a caterpie or maybe a weedle.
“Alright enough daydreaming it’s time for trainer 101! So please tell me you know what a pokeball is.” Blake said.
“Of course I know what a pokeball is. Do I look like an idiot?” Melody yelled.
“Well since you asked, yes.” Blake said as he laughed.
“You’re a jerk.” Melody said
“A jerk taking time out of his day to help an idiot like you.” he shot back with a smirk.
“Whatever.” she said.
“Okay so have you ever battled anyone before?” Blake asked.
“Before I met you I ran into a girl named Samia and battled her Charmander. I surprisingly won.” Melody replied
“Good so you know basic fighting. Lets head off into the forest. Stay near the road so we don’t get lost okay?” Blake said “Once we find a suitable pokemon we will battle it.”
“Fine by me.” Melody said.
They wandered for about an hour without seeing a single pokemon. It was odd because when they had woke earlier that morning the forest was full of pokemon running everywhere.
“Where did all the pokemon go? My feet hurt from walking,” Melody complained.
“Maybe if you shut your mouth we would be able to find a pokemon.” Blake said with an annoyed expression “Something isn’t right. Even with a loud mouth like you there should still be pokemon.”
They walked further into the forest trying to find a pokemon. They had been walking for almost two hours now. Something was definitely wrong. Suddenly they heard a big crash!
“What the heck was that?” Melody screamed out of surprise.
“I don’t know!” Blake replied with worry sketched across his face.
“Should we go check it out?” Melody questioned
“I think we should.” he replied
They dashed towards the place where the sound came from. They came upon the scene very suddenly. There was a group of people surrounding almost all the pokemon in the forest! The people all wore dark purple outfits with orange X’s on their shirts.
“What are they doing?” Blake asked to no one in particular.
“We need to stop them!” Melody said “We can’t let them take all the pokemon! I haven’t even caught one yet!” Melody tried to get up and run towards the purple gang, but was grabbed quickly by Blake.
“We can’t go head to head with them. You’ve just become a trainer it’s too dangerous!” he said.
“We need to stop them!” Melody fought back
“How will we save them if we get caught? We need to figure out a plan. I’ve heard about these guys. After Team Rocket’s demise a new gang showed up. They go by the name of The Xavier Gang. They are apperently really dangerous. We can’t just rush in.” Blake said.
“What should we do then?” Melody said as she started to get irritated. They were running out of time!
“Just leave it to me!” he whispered before he ran off.
Melody sat there like she was told. He was right she didn’t stand a chance against The Xavier Gang. She couldn’t just wait around and do nothing though! She had to help. This wasn’t the time to sit around and contemplate if she was good enough to become a trainer. As she crawled around the perimeter she noticed a break in the guards. This was her shot! She snuck into the area holding all the pokemon. They had a large net over the pokemon trapping them to their place.
“Hold on guys, I’m going to get you out.” Melody whispered to the closest pokemon.
She broke out her handy pocket knife and started to cut the net. She constantly had to stop to make sure no one had seen her. Eventually she had managed to break the net. All the pokemon at once started to break free. There was another loud crash as she saw a pokemon she had never seen before. It was a fire type, she knew that, but other than that she had no clue. It was small with a long nose. The top of half was blue and the bottom was cream. It had fire coming out of its back. It started to attack the gang members!
“Cyndaquil use flame wheel!” Blake shouted.
“So that pokemon was a cyndaquil.” Melody thought.
The battle continued on as cyndaquil was winning. Suddenly a strong blast of water shot out from a Blastoise. It directly hit cyndaquil. This wasn’t good. Water was always stronger than fire. Cyndaquil fainted and Blake called her back to her ball. Then he threw out a Victreebel and told him to use sleep powder. The powder covered the whole gang and they all fell asleep.
“Wow!” Melody said quietly “Blake is a really talented pokemon trainer.”
“Melody are you still there?” Blake shouted.
“Yeah I’m over here! I let the pokemon out of the net,” She replied
“Well this was exciting!” He said with heavy sarcasm.
“You were amazing!” Melody said with a wide smile.
“It just takes practice. One day you will be as awesome as me!” He replied with an equally wide smile.
