Crazy Love
Chapter One: An Introduction to Complication
“Seriously, If it were as easy as Shakespeare put it, I’d have these High School boys in the bag.” Lily said as we walked out of Historic Literature. I snorted at her comment, leaning against the row of lockers as she spun her combo.
Lily just waved her hand in the air. “I mean the whole, let lips do what hands do thing. I mean, if it were that easy, I think I’d have at least ten Romeos in my bed.”
I laughed, then cut off when I felt my gaze land upon where Quinn stood down the hallway, talking to his friends. Our eyes met, and his piercing gaze made me turn away abruptly. How was it he could make me feel so guilty with one look? I hid behind the open door of my locker.
Lily noticed, looking over her shoulder then turning back to me with a sigh. “Speaking of which,” Lily said, circling around me. “When did your life get all West Side Story?”
I didn’t reply. Lily stomped her foot and threw her hands up in the air at me. “Seriously, Vi. Why can’t you just explain it to him?” We started towards the front entrance.
Before I could reply, almost as quickly as it had happened with Quinn, I saw Ian standing next to the cafeteria as he put up a poster for the Haunted House. He looked up and waved at me. I looked away, feeling both their gazes on me.
God, how did I get in the middle of this?
I walked out with Lily towards her car, trying my best to ignore her disappointed look. I hung my head back and groaned. “You know the story. I don’t know how many times I have to repeat it.”
Lily cut in front of me, blocking my path. “Fine. Let’s analyze.”
I just groaned again but Lily walked up to her silver car and leaned against the side. “Enter Violet Eden.” She says in a husky voice.
“Average grades, loves art. Very attractive to the male eye, with her lovely brown ringlets that fall to her shoulders like a princess.” Lily said with a fake swoon.
This is why Lily is going to be an actress someday. She never could stop adding the drama to life, and I didn’t bother to stop her.
She continued, “light hazel eyes, fair skin. Enter Ian Thomson. Violet’s longtime boyfriend, of which she’d been blissed out on since freshman year of high school. She’d fallen in love, and so had he. But then,” Lily holds up a finger, “He changes. He gets possessive, controlling. Enter Quinn Jacobs, sexy lab partner that makes Violet laugh. And then suddenly, though she was still with the changing Ian, Violet hung out with Quinn more and more. Late night arcade games, old fashioned movie marathons. They got close. He read into it, and she wanted to. So, our girl Violet breaks up with the boyfriend Ian, breaking his heart.”
