I exit the cab as it pulls along the side of the road and am stunned at what stands before me. What I had expected-- an average hotel, was blown away by this spectacle that lay before me. In front of me stood a hotel with bricks a that were a bright shade or red and windows that adorned every room along the side of it. Here goes nothing. I lift my suitcases up the stairs with a grunt and am quickly greeted by a doorman in a green uniform.

"Hello," he says with a think British accent. "My name is George, and welcome to England's Best Hotel!" I mutter a thank and he nods as he grabs my things and arranges for me to get my room set up.

As he writes down in the record book, he asks me, "Room for one?" I say yes. "Right this way," he tells me.

I follow him to the elevator as he lugs my suitcases with ease, but before the door shuts to the elevator, I catch a glimpse of a figure with shoulder-length watching me with a sly smile on his face. I try to ignore it, but I can't lie that it doesn't phase me.

"Agh," I moan as my back falls against the bed. It's been almost a day since I've gotten a proper night of sleep. My body is sore from fatigue, and I'm even too tired to eat. So, I decide to curl up and sleep.

However, I'm kept up all night. All I can think about is why I left.

*FLASHBACK*

"Stop, Matt! I'm leaving, do you hear me? I need to focus on my future, and you're dragging me down!" I yell.

"Baby--no. You're staying with me," he pleads. "I didn't mean to hurt you. Please, I'll do anything."

"It's too late," I whimper as a cry escapes my lips. I spin around on my heels and walk through the door.

"Once you leave, don't even think about coming back! I won't let you come back," he cries.

"I know."

I look over at the wall to see the hands on the clock ticking by. Tick, tick, tick, tick. It's obvious that I'm having another restless night of sleep.

I climb out of bed slowly and slip on a coat and a pair of Toms before grabbing my purse and leaving the hotel room.

I reach the lobby and am greeted by the security guard. I walk on by, but make sure to shoot him a smile before I walk out.

Almost instantly, I am met with a cool breeze nipping at my face. Instinctively, I wrap my red coat closet to myself as I stroll down the newly paved sidewalk. The walkway is almost dark; the only thing illuminating it are the streetlights, and they're not enough to protect me from the dark.

As I walk on by, I start to drift off and wonder about how my loved ones are doing...

*FLASHBACK*

"Mya, you need to leave him. He's not doing you any good. I know you love him, but--"

"Audrey, stop. I know. I just left him. He told me not to come back, but I know he'll be looking for me soon. I just need to borrow some cash for now," I say as I run my fingers through my hair nervously.

"Here take this," Audrey says while handing me a stack of hundred dollar bills. "This should last you a while. I've been saving for this, just in case. You never know when there's gonna be an emergency."

I embrace her and begin to cry in her arms. "I don't know if I can do this, Audrey. You're the only person I could count on for all these years."

"Don't worry, Mya. I'll come with you, but-- not right now. I need to get some things settled first."

We're interrupted by a knocking at the door. I whisper nervously, "It's Matt! I need to go, NOW!" She hugs me once more and pushes me in the direction of the back door. With adrenaline pumping through me, I escape the residence without a trace of me left behind.
