Light (a poem)

Wandering in the dark spaces between thoughts,

Looking for a light in the blackness,

Tripping over pebbles of half formed ideas,

Scraping my knees on the boulders.

Do not shine light in this darkness.

Do not show this disgrace for all to see.

Do not let them know the pain.

Do not give them reason to run.

Hoping in vain for a reprieve,

Trying to get past the locked doors,

Wanting to ignore the hidden rooms,

Knowing the consequences of light.
