I had just stepped off the plane and into the palace, but before I could take three steps I was whisked away along with the other nine girls who were on the plane with me.
They took me to a room which they explained to me whilst doing me hair that was called the lounge room. This is where me and the other twenty-nine girls were to stay when we had free time, it was either here or in our rooms.
As soon as I arrived I was sat in a low back chair that spun around. Once I was comfortable they began doing my make-up.
This is so unusaul I wonder if everyone is being treated the same, I thought.
As soon as I looked around the room I realized that, yes, in fact, every other chosen girl was being treated the same.
After they were done with my make-up they moved onto my hair, they started to curl it with the most high-tech curler I had ever seen, but in India there were no curling wands.
They were done with my hair almost instantaneously. Then they painted my nails a deep maroon color.
As soon as the maids who were working on my appearance were done I was rushing into a small room, which I assumed was a dressing room, even though it was make shift and temporary it was beautiful. It had a full length mirror, and artwork inside of it. I did not, however, have much time to admire the small room because I was being stuffed into a deep maroon gown, the same color as my nails. The two people in there helping me where pulling on strings trying to make me appear thinner, I assumed that that was the purpous and not just to suffocate me. Which they were doing a swell job at, might I add.
After I was in the dress that was threatening to pop at the seems. My feet were shoved into three in high shoes, that matched my dress.
I was finally done. So I wandered around the palace hall admiring every thing from the draperies, to the mable floors, to the elegant windows, and even the beautiful veiw of the palace lawn. The lawn was absolutely stunning, it had pink roses the color of pink chiffon, red roses such a deep color it looked like they were bleeding, daises so white you would have thought they had been bleached. This was all so foriegn to me, the fancy dresses, the high shoes, the beautiful flowers. It felt like I was in paradise.
But all my thoughts of the beautiful lawn had to wait as I was being called to the central part of the hall.
I had no idea that within the first two hours, of ariving we were to be eating dinner with the royal family. I thought it woukd ve at least the second day before we got to eat with them, but i thought ibcorrectly. As I entered the dinning room I was a jumble of nerves.
