"What the fuck, Courtney?!" screamed a red haired girl. A blonde girl shifted her hips and looked at what the red head was pointing at.
"Calm down Adore. Its just a human," Courtney said as she looked at the lifeless looking person.
"I know what a human looks like! I wasn't born yesterday!' Adore screamed.
"Hmh you wouldn't have guessed," the blonde joked, making herself laugh in the process.
"Fuck off!" Adore screamed louder. The strange being looked as if it were shaking and it muttered something under its breath. Adore moved closer to the human and brushed the hair out of his face. Her heart leaped out of her chest at the sight. He was the most beautiful human she had ever seen. She never really believed and true love at first sight but for some reason she knew this was something like that. She sat there and stared at the man and studied this face, stared at his lips, and felt her eyes sting with tears.
"Um, Adore," Courtney whispered.
"Mhmm," Adore hummed.
"I don't think he's okay," she whispered softer. "He keeps shaking and he won't wake up," Courtney looked like she was crying at the sight. "I think he's hurt," she whimpered. Adore still sat silently and stared at the man. She flipped her tail and felt the cold water splash against her. Her heart sank when she realized why the man wasn't moving. The water was far too cold for anyone who wasn't used to the icy temperatures. She gently picked up the man and laid him on her lap. Tears started filling her eyes and she started to sing her song.
Will you still love me
When I'm no longer young and beautiful?
Will you still love me
When I got nothing but my aching soul?
I know you will, I know you will
I know that you will
Will you still love me when I'm no longer beautiful?
I've seen the world, lit it up
As my stage now
Channeling angels in the new age now
Hot summer days rock 'n' roll
The way you play for me at your show
And all the ways I get to know
Pretty face and electric sound
Tears soaked Adore's face and dripped onto the man's face. She buried her face into his neck and let out a quiet sob. "Court... I have to save him," she whispered.
"Adore there's nothing we can do. You can't just swim back to the shore, risk being seen, and then magically walk into town and find his home and nurse him back to health," Courtney said, pulling Adore away from the man. "But I know you don't care if you get seen or if you don't have... um those things," she said, pointing at the man's feet.
"Feet," Adore barely whispered. "I need to help him," and with the Adore pushed off the rock and dove into the icy water. She grabbed the man and started swimming back to the shore. She swam faster and faster and within seconds she was at close enough to the shore to be seen. She turned franticly trying to find somewhere to safely lay him down and swim away unseen. The beach was empty but houses filled the shore line, almost touching the sand. Adore looked around and found a sharp cliff with a large mansion sitting proudly atop it. Her fins turned and she spun towards the opposite side of the cliff facing the beach. She hoped and prayed that the cliff was safely hiding a small beach or end a smooth enough rock for him to rest upon and be seen soon. The beach was clear except the occasional crab or bird. The young mermaid set him down upon the soft sand and gently brushed the sand out of his face. She for the last time sang her song until he awake.
His eyes fluttered open and he sat there silent. Brown eyes met green ones. The man started crying as he looked upon her face. He reached up slowly and placed his hand on her cheek. Tears started flowing from Adore's eyes as the man started to whisper something she couldn't hear. He continued to desperately try to speak but nothing came out. His body became tense and she felt him start to slowly go limp in her arms. his face was stained with tears and sand. He looked absolutely beautiful.
"I'll be back," she whispered when she knew he had passed out again. She let out a last sob before diving back into the water and leaving her love behind.
Adore swam as quickly as she could trying her hardest not to turn back and stay by his side. Courtney sat angry on a rock, with her arms crossed. As soon as she saw Adore she swam over to her and slapped her in the face.
"You know good damn well not to even let a human touch you and I've been letting your special rocky time slide! But now you swim off on your own and to SAVE one!" Courtney screamed. Adore started to cower as the blonde's voice grew louder. Adore felt her heart shrink as her best friend started moved closer to her. "I will be telling you mother of this," Courtney said as she turned and swam towards Adore's mother's home. Adore didn't even try to stop her, when Courtney was determined there was not stopping her ever.
"So do you believe in true love?" a strange voice whispered in her ear. A strong shiver sent down her back and she felt like someone was behind her. She spun around and was met face to face with an evil looking woman. She had large curled horns, bright white hair and her lips were pitch black. "Well do you?" she asked again, this time sounding gentler. Adore shook her head quickly and her eyes met the woman's. They were white except for a small black pupil in the center. "Then come with me," the woman spoke. At first Adore felt like this was a bad idea but when she realized as soon as she came home she would be met with her screaming mother she changed her mind and started following the woman. The stranger lead her into a cave filled with seaweed and other plants growing on the wall but there was a strong vibe of love. The whole cave gave Adore a weird feeling but she liked it.
"My name is Sharon and this is Alaska," the woman said as the cave led into a large living room and another woman sat on a chair.
"Hello," said Alaska with a soft coo. She stood up and swam towards Sharon and kissed her gently. They broke apart and Alaska let out a small whimper. Sharon moved closer to Adore and grabbed her hand.
"Follow me," she said softly. The two swam silently and followed the hallway to another large room but this time it had a large caldron in the center of it and bottles of random things lining the walls.
"She's a good...ish sea witch," Alaska said as if she already knew what Adore was wondering. "You kind of get tired of having to answer that question."
"Thank you Lasky," Sharon sarcastically growled. "Now that love spell!" Sharon shouted with excitement. Adore started panicking, she hadn't asked for a love spell.
"What do you mean 'love spell'?" she asked.
"Well more like give you feet instead of a tail, Satan knows they are a lot better, and you can go up there and fuck that rock man. Might I add that he is very nice looking, like very. I would fuck him, would you lasky?" she said as she spun around the room throwing things in the caldron. "Done! Now for that contract," she looked at Alaska who was holding a large roll of paper. "Sign on the bottom line," she grabbed the scroll and opened it. A large pen appeared out of nowhere and started glowing. Adore grabbed the paper and started signing. Sharon pulled the paper back and paused for a moment. "I always forget this tiny detail. You've only got three days," she said as Adore finished writing her name. "and if you fail to find 'the special rock man' your ass is mine and you'll be stuck on land forever as the way the spell makes you. Which is different for all," and with that Sharon chanted something in a weird language and Alaska stared at her in awe and looked like she was about to jump Sharon's bones. The room filled with a piercing white light and Adore was blinded.
