Liz's POV
"ELIZABETH EMILY MULNER, GET YOURSELF OUT OF BED NOW!!" A loud, annoying, but familiar voice screamed. "I MEAN IT. UP NOW. GET UP. GET UP. GET UP!!!" Where on earth was that voice coming from? I opened one eye to look around to see if I could see the culprit. There's no one else in here. "GET UP ELIZABETH..." The voice started again. What?? I turned around to see my phone lit up and vibrating vigorously. Oh!! "GE..." I switched of the annoying alarm before it had time to ruin what was left of my ear drums. My mum had thought that it would be a good idea to record her voice and use it as an alarm after she revived my 'shocking' report from last year. Apparently I had been late to school 42 times. But how did they expect me to arrive on time when they made school start at 8:30?? I mean, seriously??
Now wide awake I got out of bed and walked to the bathroom. I looked at myself in the mirror. Yeesh!! I sure looked attractive. Seeing as it was the first day of school I decided to make an effort. I showered and brushed at the same time because you know, it saves time. Then I wore blue faded, ripped jeans, a white tank top and a navy baggy jumper. Lastly, I put on my worn black trainers. Eh, I looked alright.
After a quick breakfast I rushed out the door only to bump into Kyle. "Ouch. Kyle!!" I whined rubbing my now sore head. Kyle immediately burst into laughter. Typical. "You could at least say sorry" I carried on, glaring at him. "Nah. Laughing is much better...and funnier." He said between laughs. I punched him playfully on his arm and walked away. "So you ready for school?" He asked, falling into step next to me. "Liz I'm talking to you. Liz. Oh I see. The silent treatment, right?" He asked. I nodded. "I'm not speaking to you until you apologise." He burst out laughing again. Now what was funny? "You do realise you just spoke to me, right?" Shoot. "Don't care," I replied. "And again" he cooed. Oh my goodness. This boy must be the most frustrating boy I know. Scratch that, he's the only boy I know. "Alright, I'm sorry Lizzy." He said finally. I looked up at him and smiled. "It's ok Kyle" I replied, a smile still on my face. He gave me a sideways hug.
"So?" He asked after a while. "So what?" I asked back. He rolled his eyes at me. "How was your summer?" He asked again. "Why are you asking me that? You were with me for most of it."
"No. I went camping one weekend with my dad. I wasn't with you then."
"One weekend out of the whole 6 weeks" I reminded him. "Just one"
"I know, I know. But still, did you have fun without me?" I gave him the 'are you serious?' look. "No I didn't have fun without you. You're my only friend. There was literally nothing I could do." Mine and Kyle's summer routine consisted of this: I would get up at around 11 brush and get ready. By that time I'd already hear him coming upstairs. Then we'd watch movies, go to the park, have lunch, watch movies, play a game (usually some game that he would always win), have dinner, watch movies...again. I swear I have now seen every movie there is. Honestly, you name it and I'm pretty sure that I've seen it. There wasn't a lot to do recreational wise in our little town. All of the fun stuff were in the next town and there was no point walking 45 minutes to a place that we'd only spend a short time in due to not having enough money as everything there is expensive and then make the other 45 minutes back. So we used our time watching movies.
"Liz," I heard Kyle say. "What?" I asked, smoking out of my thoughts. "I said we need to find you some other friends." He repeated. "What?! No we don't. What's wrong with what we have now?" I asked getting a bit agitated. "Nothing. It's just that when I'm not here you can have someone else to talk to."
"But you're always here, excluding that weekend, so there's no point. I don't want to find other friends. I like just you and me together like this. More friends means more people that I have to talk to and I don't want that. Besides I don't mind being on my own. We're not finding new friends!!" I didn't realise that we had stopped walking and that my voice was now slightly raised. Only slightly. Kyle looked back at me with shock written all over his face. "Sorry." I say quickly.
"It's alright. But it was just a suggestion we don't have to do it. Forget I said anything." He smiled. But this smile didn't reach his eyes like his smiles usually do. I just nod and we walk the rest of the way in silence. The day hasn't even begun yet and we'd already had a disagreement. This was going to be a long year...Hey hey hey. 2nd chapter is up.
