The Mormo is a Greek vampire who preyed on humans, predominantly children. The creature was written off as a 'wives tale' to keep the bad children in check. It was a form of the boogieman, nothing but a threat to those who dint follow the rules. It however, was greatly feared in some small town and villages were tales of the creature were more prominent than others.

The morning I first awoke was warm. I came to, face down in the dirt and leaves. I did not remember falling asleep face down. I rolled over to my back. I was covered in dry leaves and dirt on my front side. I saw white trunks rising up around me. Green leaves rustled quietly in the small breeze, covering the ground with a shy dappling of sunlight. I was in an aspen grove. The forest around me was calm, birds chirping, rodents foraging, and insects buzzing. The ground beneath me was coated in a layer of dried aspen leaves, they crunched as I moved.

I sat up slowly glancing around. Where was I?

The last thing I remembered was falling asleep. I don't remember where I was, or who I was, or how I arrived in this predicament. I tried desperately to remember, it felt as if the answers were in front of me, it felt like I should know this. I had fallen asleep. And woken here. Where had I fallen asleep? If i could only remember... why was this so hard?

I lifted my head gazing around me, my eyes taking in the forest around me. It was calm, peaceful. The serenity was calming.

I took a deep breath. I tried to remember. Something, anything. Nothing revealed itself. The answers seemed to be lurking in the shadows of my brain. I felt a small level of panic quiver through me. I had no idea where I was, how I got here, or even who I was.

I must have been a rather rational thinker, because I was not super alarmed at my situation and stood up. I knew I had to find water, food, and shelter. If I was close to a city I could find all three, even if I needed to join a homeless group, I would be better off, until my memory returned.

I brushed off the leaves from my front. I was wearing a grey cotton t-shirt and a pair of jeans. I wore simple sneakers on my feet. Not the best survival clothing, but it would work for now.

I surveyed my situation. The aspen grove I was in was large, but I managed to see a break in the trees a little ways off. It seemed there was a clearing at one end of the trees. If i could get to the clearing I might be able to see if there were any tall places in my area. I could use them to see if there were any signs of civilization, and find a way to get there.

"This can't be too bad." I said aloud to myself. I was surprised by the sound of my voice. I had expected different I guess.

I pushed aside the fear and doubts swirling around in my head, and began making my way toward the clearing.

As I did so I felt a cool breeze rustle the leaves above me. The draft was refreshing in the warm temperature.

I pushed aside branches as the clearing got closer and I could see the size of the field.

The large expanse of grass was close to a football field long and several wide, with aspen trees on my side and evergreen on the other. The golden grass danced in the breeze. I spotted several birds take off out of the grass. They drove away from my approach and landed further into the field.

I saw movement in the corner of my eye.

I turned quickly, startling a deer. It took off into the pine forest on the other side of the clearing.

I was shaking from the scare. I was on edge. I was thinking rationally, and it seemed like I had been taught some survival things that I somehow remembered. But I was still uneasy.
