She turned the corner and slowly padded down the hallway until she saw a silver plaque outside the door that read 'Dr. Harold Styles'. She softly nodded to herself when she was certain she had found the correct office and sat in the chair outside the door. She pursed her lips and twiddled her thumbs softly as she waited.
Her hair was pulled up into a messy bun with a strand dangling in her face. She leaned her head back against the wall with a soft huff and closed her eyes, her music relaxing her as she shook her leg, just anxious to get out of this place. The blonde girl was pulled from her thoughts when she felt a soft tap on her shoulder. Flustered, she stood and tug her headphones out with a soft murmur. "Oh I uh. I'm sorry."
"Not a problem." The tall, clearly British, voice rang softly, a grin laying where the words escaped. "Why don't you come in and have a seat?" He gestured a hand into the room which caused her to agree and step inside. Taking a quick glance around the room as the made her way over to the oversized chair and sat down, setting her purse in her lap.
"So how are you doing today?" The doctor quizzed softly as he looked over the notes passed on from the brown eyed girls' main doctor. "It just has an M for your first name, is that shortened?"
"Uh, yes. I prefer to go by M" she softly nodded. "About how long do you think this will take?" M asked as she glanced to the small clock on his desk with a light breath as she layed back in the oversized chair.
"Eager to leave so soon? Each session is normally an hour and a half. Why don't we start with why you're here?" He wrote a small note and crossed his legs. His lips pursing softly as he focused on the girl sitting across from him, just taking every aspect of her in and studying her.
"Because I'm being forced to. " She bluntly stated as she played with the edge of her sleeve. Not letting even an ounce of emotion out. He was intrigued by this, seeing as it may be a harder client then most which drew Styles in more.
"And why do you think you're being forced?" He responded almost after a minute. She crinkled her nose and looked up to him with a slightly confused face, it fading into a soft saddened look then quickly went back to a more delicately confused expression.
"I-" she breathed in just thinking to herself and then looked back to her hands. "I don't know" the girl softly whispered. Harry just scribbled down a few more notes and uncrossed his legs. Leaning closer towards her.
"Do you have trouble opening up to strangers? Or maybe people in general?"
" I don't think my personal life is anyone's business, besides my own." M shot her head back up with a now firm expression, a light shake in her voice as she bit her cheek. " I don't even talk to my best friend about personal things. Not since I uh-m-moved." She breathed out after scrambling to work out the last work.
He nodded softly and stood walking across the room with the girls eyes following the entire time. "Would you like some coffee or water?" He called over his shoulder as he poured himself a cup of steaming brown liquid. Reaching for the sugar and creamer.
The blonde girl slightly confused with the offer shook her head no then realized he was faced away and mutter softly "I'm fine." She studied his back for a little bit before pulling her gaze off of him and out the window, looking over the city. She went off in a deep thought, just thinking to herself only being pulled from it a few minutes later when the tall doctor cleared his throat and called her name.
"What were you thinking about?" He asked as he sipped his coffee and set the cup down, twirling his rings around his fingers while he looked over to her.
"Nothing. Nothing important." She shook her head and blew a strand of hair from her face.
"I can't help you if you don't talk to me M." The doctor sighed softly.
"I don't want or need help. I don't want to be here." She spat lightly. Instantly wishing she hadn't sounded so rude, but she didn't apologize because it was how she felt.
"I understand that but won't it be a lot easier to just talk besides refusing and holding everything inside for so long? There is a patient and doctor confidentially rule I abide by. I'm not going to tell anyone a thing you tell me without your permission." He lightly tried to push her to talk. She just softly shook her head and shrugged.
"What do you want me to say? There isn't much to know. I live by myself, I'm usually alone besides my two or three college classes I have a week and I hate everything especially myself. Sometimes I just want to stop and give up but all I can do it cry and cry because I'm not strong enough to end it." She mutter out finally breaking. Her voice cracking as she spoke and her eyes lining with tears. Harry's heart sunk when he heard this, understanding why she hadn't spoke up to begin with.
He had dealt with many cases similar to this, he knew it wasn't the easiest thing to tell someone these type of things. He took a breath and stood grabbing some tissues and bringing them to her as he knelt down beside her and set a hand on her shoulder to comfort her. "I know you don't want to hear this but it does get better. It'll work out in the end." He nodded softly just wanting to comfort her.
She stared out the window as the tears slipped down her cheeks and she sniffles softly with a light sigh. "No you don't know. You just treat people with disorders. I doubt you've even experienced this before."
"Little do you know I have. I know from personal experience what you are going through." He said lightly looking up to her and studying her profile as she studied the next door buildings. She bit her lip to keep it from trembling and sniffled softly.
He stood back up and sat on the small table that was separating them and ran a hand through his long curls. She wiped her face with the edge of her sleeves and then glanced to him. "Can I go home?"
The tall man shrugged softly " I'm not holding you back M. But I want you back here Thursday, okay?" He gave her a look, his eyebrows slightly raised. The blonde girl nodded softly and stood. She wiped her face again and pulled her purse over her shoulder before stepping towards the door. "And before you go here's this." He scribbled down a prescription and handed it to her. " it's low dosage. Just to start off, it should make you feel better. Twice a day and take it with food." He nodded softly and she took it with a huff. Turning back and walking out the door without another word.-----------------
