The sweet sorrow of a cello filled the church. A red velvet carpet rested down the center row. Over two-hundred people filled the seats. Candles were everywhere. The glowing sunset illuminated the stained glass windows.
Joe smiled while up at the altar. This was all he had ever wanted. He had only ever wanted to marry the girl of his dreams. This was it. This was where he tied the knot. He wasn't even nervous. Not one little bit. He was completely confident. Nothing could go wrong.
"Do you, Joe, take Sara as your lawfully wedded wife?"
"I do." He replied, smiling from ear to ear. He shifted his weight from foot to foot with anticipation.
"Do you, Sara, take Joe as your lawfully wedded husband?"
"I... I..." Sara stuttered. Whispers erupted from the seats. Joe's smile vanished. What was happening? Sara smiled. Her smile then disappeared as soon as it had come. Her face had gone blank. "I... E... EX..." Joe now shifted nervously. What was Sara saying? "EX... EXT... EXTERMINATE!!! EXTERMINATE!!!" A black metal rod with a blue glowing light emerged from Sara's forehead. A whisk like object then came out of the center of her palm. Sara lifted her hand and started firing bolts of energy around the church. Fires started, people screamed and ducked out. Joe just stood there, mouth open, a shocked look on his face. Sara turned towards Joe and raised her hand."So where are we headed again?" Amy asked. She was used to traveling with the Doctor now. It was something new every time, but he tended to talk fast and she didn't always catch what he was saying.
The Doctor ran around the Tardis console pad, flipping switches and pressing buttons seemingly at random.
"We are going to Mars."
"Mars?" Asked Rory. In the whole time he and Amy had been traveling with him, they had never really been to somewhere within their solar system.
"Yes! Mars! I know a fantastic underground restaurant!"
"An underground restaurant?" Asked Amy. "On Mars?"
"Exactly! Fantastic milkshakes! Made with real olives! Well, not so much olives as eyeballs, but, they taste almost exactly the same. Mostly."
The Tardis shook and made a whooooo....whoooooooosh! Sound. This happened every time they landed because the Doctor always left the brakes on.
The Doctor flipped one last switch and ran wildly down to the Tardis's front doors. He turned his head and smiled. It was always odd when the doctor smiled, Amy thought. His mouth said one thing, but his eyes were filled with sadness and adventure and madness all at the same time. "Come along Ponds!"The Doctor burst through the Tardis's blue doors onto a green grass field with Amy and Rory shortly behind him.
They looked around. "This is not Mars." Said Rory.
"No.... It's not." Said the Doctor.
A scream burst through the silence. All three heads turned towards where it had come from. They had each heard enough screams to know what each one meant. The Doctor started walking.
"Doctor?" Amy shouted. He turned, a confused look on his face, like he didn't think there could possibly be anything else to do than investigate. "What about Mars?"
"Later... something seems fishy. Let's go poke it with a stick."The Doctor strode through the fields. Amy and Rory had to run to keep up with him. The Doctor was very skinny and lean. He often tripped over his limbs like he forgot they were there. He whipped out his sonic screwdriver and pressed a button. The green tip illuminated and made a buzzing sound.
"What is that?" Asked Amy, pointing to a church that had burst into flames.
"I don't know...." Said the Doctor. He squinted his eyes. He was thinking.
Suddenly, an almost robotic voice sounded through the field, "EXTERMINATE!"
"Um, I think I know." Said Rory.
Amy and the Doctor started walking faster.
"Come on, stupid face!" Called Amy to Rory. He quickly caught up. Rory liked when she called him stupid face. Her Scottish accent made it much more enjoyable, plus when she called him that, it was her way of saying I love you.
"Why would the Daleks be... where are we?" Amy asked the Doctor.
The Doctor stopped in his tracks, and looked around.
"North.... No, South Dakota by the looks of it."
"America?" Said Rory. "Cool."
"Not cool, South Dakota."
"Doctor, why would the Daleks be in South Dakota?" Amy asked.
"Let's go find out."The three of them approached the burning building. People all around were in hysterics. Children were crying, the police were trying to calm people as firemen attempted to put out the fire. Amy caught the attention of an older gentleman who was staring in disbelief at the flames.
"Excuse me sir?" She asked. "What happened here?"
He turned to look at her. "Th- there was a thing..."
"A thing? Oh goody, I love things!" The Doctor joined in.
"Y- yes... The bride, my granddaughter, she started firing..."
"Firing?" Asked Rory.
"Out of a whisk! She grew a whisk out of her hand... and a glowing blue rod out of her head!" The old man then walked off, not really knowing where he was going.
"Well it's definitely a Dalek." Said the Doctor. "I wonder if it- she's still in there..." The Doctor trailed off into thought and started walking towards the wreckage. When they got inside, the place was destroyed. Almost everything was gone, and Sara was nowhere to be seen.
"Where did that old man go?" The Doctor asked.
"Who are you calling old man?" Amy asked playfully.
"I'm serious, Amy! Sometimes. Where did he go?"
"I think he walked out into the field." Rory said.
The three of them started back to where they had come from, and found the old man staring up at the sky.
"Sir? Excuse me! Sir?" Called the Doctor. The old man turned to face them.
"Yes?"
"You said the bride was your granddaughter, is that true?"
"Yes..."
"Oh lovely! Just brilliant!" The Doctor smiled and seemed to lose track of what was happening for a minute. He snapped back. "Right! Distractions, distractions. Anyway, come with me, sir!"
"Why?"
"Because we're going to find your granddaughter."
The Doctor, Amy, and Rory lead the old man to the Tardis. The Doctor snapped his fingers and the doors opened.
The man just stood still looking bewildered.
"It's bigger! On the inside!"
"Yes, yes, yes. I don't have time to explain. Too... Sciencey- wiencey." The Doctor was now at the console pad, back at flipping switches and pressing buttons again.
"What was your name again?"
"Neil."
"Neil! Come up and put your hands here on the console and focus on your granddaughter."
"Why?"
"The Tardis will be able to track her through your memory, hopefully it will lead us to wherever she is now."
The old man put his hands in the weird looking part of the console pad. It felt funny, he thought. Like a lizard.
The Tardis shook and made the whooooooo, whooooooosh sound. "We've landed!" The Doctor exclaimed. He ran wildly down to the Tardis's front doors. The Doctor skipped more than he did run. He turned his head to Amy and Rory, and straitened his bow tie "Geronimo!"
