“Zoey, can you come help me with dinner?” Mom called me from downstairs. She told me yesterday that we would be having guests tonight.
“Yeah, give me a minute.” I called back then sat down the drawing I was currently working on. I quickly pulled on a blue plaid shirt over the white tank top I was wearing and pulled on a pair of blue converses that didn’t look blue anymore. I walked downstairs to see my mother trying to fry chicken and stir potatoes at the same time.
“Can you come watch the chicken please? Your-I mean our guests will be here soon.” She said. I nodded and walked over to the skillet which currently has four boneless skinless chicken breasts in it. On a plate off to the side there was a plate with about ten more. It took fifteen minutes for the other chicken breasts to get done and the door had just opened. What kind of guests just walks in.
“I’m home,” I heard a familiar voice call out.
“Mother, is our ‘guest’ Zayn?” I asked with a raised eyebrow and just got a sheepish look in return. She then grabbed my arm and led me into the living room where my brother was waiting. He also had four other guys that looked our age with him.
“Hey Mo-I thought you said she wasn’t going to be here.” He said.
“Yeah, well she didn’t exactly say you were coming either.” I said then almost stormed upstairs but Mom caught me.
“Zayn Malik, you haven’t been home in almost two years. The least you can do is act civil towards each other for one night.” Mom said. The boys behind Zayn looked incredibly confused.
“Anyway, the four of you look lost. I’m guessing Zayn here hasn’t said one word about me. I’m his twin sister Zoey. And you are?” I asked them. The first one stepped up.
“I’m Harry, it’s nice to meet you.”
“I’m Louis, pleasure to meet your acquaintance.” He said like from ‘The Lion King’ gave me a hug. I smiled at him and returned the hug.
“I’m Niall,” The next one said. He was absolutely adorable.
“I’m Liam, it’s very nice to meet you.” He said with a smile. He reminded me of a puppy dog.
“Well, dinner is ready guys. Let’s go eat.” Mom said and ushered them into the kitchen.
*Niall’s POV*
We were having a short break at Zayn’s house. We didn’t really go there a lot and none of us knew why. We pulled up to a nice looking house and he walked right in.
“I’m home,” He called out. I heard some harsh whispering coming from the kitchen and footsteps. Zayn’s Mom, Trish, and a very pretty girl with brown hair that was just passed her shoulders and brown eyes walked into the living room. She was glaring at Zayn.
“Hey Mo- I thought you said she wasn’t going to be here.” He said and glared at the girl. She made a quick remark that I did pay attention to because I was just staring at her and her beauty and also was trying to figure out who this girl was. I felt a nudge and looked and saw Liam was shaking his head. I looked at the other boys and noticed they all had similar looks on their faces. They also had no clue who she was and she must’ve picked up on this.
“Anyway, the four of you look lost. I’m guessing Zayn here hasn’t said one word about me. I’m his twin sister, Zoey. And you are?” She asked us. We then introduced ourselves and were led into the kitchen by Zayn’s Mom. I was so happy for food. We hadn’t eating since we got off the plane. We all sat down around the table. I sat on one side of Zoey and Liam sat on the other side. Zayn happened to be sitting right across from her and he was still glaring at her. We all started eating and I saw the sleeve of the shirt Zoey was wearing slide up. I noticed some pinky-red marks trailing up her arm. She saw me looking and shook her head.
“Later,” I mouthed to her and she nodded her head. The rest of the dinner was very quiet.
