She was beautiful. Tall, blond, skin pale and soft, hazel eyes with a narrow nose and thin as she could get. She was Raised in a small town in California with her mom and her dad, but never was around. She grew up in a religious  family, but showed up to church every Sunday for something that wasn't even there. She was a Senior in high school. Not  into any sports or activities. She was not a cool kid. She basically stuck around  with some kids that listen to music and dress is flannels  and black lipstick, and talked about how much they hate society, Other times she was by herself in the way back of the library reading a book interrupted by the tiny whispers of a couple talking dirty words and making out until the bell rings. She was an outsider, no doubt about that. She spent her days driving to the same spot on the lake, far from her town, the people, and all its bullshit. She sat on the same bench, the only bench on the side of the lake. She looked out beyond the water into the pine trees, she thought what it would be like to be a bird. To be free. No worries what so ever, soaring through the clouds in the blue sky. To go far away from it all. She broke out of her daydream for a moment and reached back  into her back pocket. A single pack of cigarettes.she opened the little white box. Three stiff cigarettes and a blue lighter. She puts that cancer in her mouth and lights it up. One puff, then two, three. She looks down to her watch, it reads 6:30 pm. A glance she took,Seeing her faded, rough scars next to her sleeve, she looks up and puffs again. Her phone buzzed in her pocket. She pulled it out and saw an unknown number that read "Amber, I love you..."
It was hard but she did it. Her past coming back to haunt her. "It's over." She said the word emotionless as dull, but clear tears streamed down her cheeks. She stood up and walked to the edge of the lake. She thought about the pain and how useless she was until she pulled up the gun and pointed it to her reflection in the water and shot out a loud fire. She flinched and closed Her eyes. She thought 'I am a bird' and lifted the gun a little higher up to her temple and felt a rush of fear, then warmth starting at her head all the way down to her feet, then release...
As the sun went down, birds flew high above the Amber sunset. Her spirit was now free, she was gone, far away. She was everything she wanted to be, She was...beautiful.
