This last job had gone off without a hitch. Much easier than our last hit, Selky thought to himself, at least Ming didn't put up a fight. Their previous target had attempted to run, forcing the pirates to slag the freighters engines.

"Transitioning from hyperspace, Admiral."

That was Selkys Captain, Trask Ordell. Selky had "recruited" him on a similar job some several months earlier. Ordell proved not only useful, but appeared to relish his new occupation.

Originally from Fondor, Selky picked up the man on a run in the corporate sector. It had been risky, very risky, but had definitely paid off.

"Excellent, Captain. Inform the crew that they've earned some leave."

"Aye, sir." Ordell turned to the his subordinate to pass along the news. Moments later, cheers could be heard echoing through the ship.

They'd been out stealing supplies they needed and items they could sell for the last three weeks. Everyone was tired and homesick.

They deserved some R and R.

Selky looked out the bridge viewport. He could just barely see their base orbiting its host planet in the distance. It was decided early on that, in order to keep their hideout safe, they'd jump in system on the outer edge. That way if they were ever followed no one would find the base. Not that they probably would. It was well hidden.

"Scans are negative, sir. The Renegade reports the same. We weren't followed." Ordell said.

"Bring us home, Captain."

The Maverick shuddered as the sublight engines pushed the ship in-system. As they moved forward Selky watched as the base grew larger in the viewport. None too soon, the base revealed itself in all its craggy glory.

This was Luna Base.

Moon, Sweet Moon.
