Friday felt so far away, but here it was. I did my morning routine and headed to the kitchen.
In the kitchen I saw my brother and my mother setting the table.

"Good morning, sweetie. I finished cooking breakfast come over here and take a seat."
I took a seat next to Tony as he proceeded to gulp down his food as if he hasn't eaten in days.
"Woah, slow down there Tiger." I said to him as I patted his back making him choke. " You don't wanna get indigestion on this fine Friday like this."

"Oh yeah?" He replied as he took a sip of his orange juice. "They don't call me Tony the Tiger for nothing. A young nigga gotta eat in these streets."

I immediately spit out my food with laugher.
"What's so funny?" My mom asked eagerly with a hand on her hip as the other hand tapped the kitchen table.
"Not a damn thing should be this funny this early in the morning. Now your father is sleeping from his late shift, and if he wakes up angry because of you two, y'all are not going to here the end of me. Now hurry up and finish your damn breakfast and get out of my kitchen. Off to school you go."
Mom walked over to the house phone and said it was a call for me.
That's what I don't understand.. A call for me. I have a cellphone, no one calls me on my house phone.

I walked over to the phone where my mom gave me a smirk look.
"H-hello?" I said in a weary voice.
The person on the other line didn't say a word. It just hung up the phone.

This was starting to get weird from 'Lisha, the unknown text, and now the house phone.

"Who was it, Drè?" My mom asked with curiosity.

"I..I don't know mom. They called and then hung up. Tony come on, we gotta catch the school bus today."

Tony was still too busy eating, this time off of my plate.

"Wh-whaa? Okay.. Let's go." Was all he said as he kissed mom goodbye and we headed out the door.

It was a rainy, cloudy day. The sky was grey but it looked so pretty. It was only sprinkling, but I still needed my umbrella just in case.

"Hey, Drè.. Isn't that 'Lisha over there In that car?"
I turned my head to look across and there she was. Inside a bright colored car with a man staring dead at us with hatred in their eyes.

What the fuck. Was all I could manage to say in my head.
This bitch is going crazy.
Just then the school bus approached us as it blocked the view of 'Lisha and that man.

Tony and I hopped on, not even wanting to look in the direction that 'Lisha was in.

Tony's school was farther away from my school and from home. That's what bothered us all the most about him going to a better educated school.
If he needed us right away, we couldn't be there in a flash when he needed us.

I got dropped off by my school first, and his ride continues to go straight.
"I'm off, Tony. Have a good day, okay? I love you."

"I love you too, Drè but what about 'Lisha and-"
"I'll talk to her about it." I cut him off.
He just nodded his head as I exited the bus.

I walked into class and Had a note on my desk. I opened it and it read:
Walk home with me today, meet me at the Compton Blvd sign.

I was smiling so hard. I put the note in my back pocket as I took a seat.

Lisha didn't show up once the whole class period. But yet.. she had time to stalk my house when she doesn't even live near me?

Somethings definitely up with her.
The day went by and I didn't see her once.

After school, I headed straight to the Compton Blvd sign.

Cube was already there, looking as nice as ever. "You beat me here." I said with a smile.
"Always will." He replied with a smile.

My goodness his smile does things to me!

On our walk to his house, his neighborhood was far more scary than I could've ever imagined.

People blasting music from their car, people gambling and some people arguing. I looked over to see if all of it gave a reaction out of Cube but his face was normal.

He looked over and down at me. " what?" He said with a chuckle.
"..what? Is all of This normal to you what do you mean, what?"

"Ohh..you must live on the other side of this street if that makes any sense. Because you're not used to this, but everyone else on this side of town, is."

"ahh." Was all I could manage to say as I nodded my head in confusion.

"Well, here we are." He pointed to his house that had a lot of people in front of it.

They were all chillin or whatever when they noticed us.

One was a tall black man with a white t-shirt on red shorts, and weed in his hand. Another man had a do-rag on, black shorts that exposed his boxers, and an alcohol bottle in his hand.

"Wassup my nigga!" The man with the alcohol bottle said to Cube as he gave him a handshake and a hug.

"Is this your girlfriend? She awfully perrty." Said the other guy that was smoking his weed as he eyed me up and down.

I felt uncomfortable. But Cube pulled me close and made me feel better.

He led me into his house, and it was so pretty.
The couches had see-through covers over them, the tables were very clean, everything was just so..nice.
He led me to his room as he went back down the stairs to get us both some drinks.
